📚✨ The numbers are in, and we couldn’t be prouder!
Our 2024 - 2025 CTP5 achievement results show CJDS students performing among the top 15% of independent schools nationwide, with all six tested subjects ranking above the 80th percentile.
But behind every percentile is something much more meaningful: students who are thinking deeply, asking questions, solving problems, communicating ideas, and grow growing every day. 🧠
These results are reflection of the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the strength of a TK - 8 education that challenges students to learn, grow, and reach their potential. 🎖️
We’re so proud of what our students have accomplished - and even more excited about where they’re headed. 💙🏆

The first two days are in the books! 📚 From eager learners to joyful reunions with friends, our halls have been filled with smiles, excitement, and the energy of a brand new school year. We’re so happy to have our students back and can’t wait to see all that this year will bring!💙
We purposely didn’t add music to this post so you can hear the beautiful voices of our very talented music teachers! It’s the last slide - enjoy!
Seriously, we know we may be biased😉, but we are the luckiest and best school in all of Charlotte! 🥹💙

✏️ First day of school in the books! What a day- the excitement, curiosity and smiles walking into school today was heartwarming 🩷 our teachers and staff have been anticipating a full, bustling school for weeks- and today delivered! Our staff was joyful and enthusiastic 🤩 When educators thrive, enrollment grows, because students and families become the schools best advocate. Joyful teachers bring high energy and care to their lessons and day, and students learn more while feeling safe. What’s not to love? What was your child’s favorite part of the day today? Before we ask, “What’s wrong with my child?”- What if we asked “What’s happening in the ecosystem around them?”
Children don’t grow in isolation. Their well-being is shaped by the opportunities, relationships, expectations, routines, challenges, and experiences that surround them every day.
The childhood ecosystem audit is a tool for parents, caregivers, educators, and communities to pause and take a closer look at nine important foundations of childhood: self regulation, social connection, independence, and agency, resilience and grit, creativity and imagination, executive function, physical health, and coordination, purpose, and meeting, contribution and responsibility.
How to use it:
Rate each area from 0 to 3 based on the conditions around your child - not on how “well” your child is performing. 0=missing, 1=thin, 2=present, 3=woven in
Then add your scores:
0-9 - major restoration needed - there may be several areas of the ecosystem that need attention and rebuilding.
10-18- uneven ecosystem - some foundations are strong, while others may need more intentional support.
19-27 - strong ecosystem - many protective inputs are in place- but keep nurturing and protecting them.
Remember: a low score is not a failure. It isn’t a verdict on your parenting or your child. It simply gives you a place to start.
Choose one area to strengthen. Try something small. Revisit the audit later and noticed what has changed. And maybe most importantly: don’t take this audit just once. Save it. Come back to it next year. Revisit it during transitions, new school years, or whenever life feels different. Our children’s ecosystems are constantly changing - and so are we. 🌱
we encourage you to save this post. Share it with a parent, caregiver, teacher, or anyone who helps shape a child’s world. Repost it if you found it helpful.❤️

It’s a wonderful week to be BACK! The halls are buzzing again with teachers catching up with one another, getting classrooms ready, meeting about another exciting new year and learning all about the amazing new kiddos they’ll get to teach this year. We can’t wait for another incredible school year at CJDS!!
And just for fun… the video is sort of an eye spy game. There are some things to keep an eye out for. Do you spot any new faces? Do you spot any familiar faces with a new name? Do you notice any classroom decor changes? Can you guess which teacher was wearing the fanciest shoes?! Watch till the end and give us your answers in the comments. We can’t wait to see you soon!

At CJDS, learning never stops—even in the summer! ☀️
Our Lower School STEAM teacher, Mr. Isham, recently attended the 2026 National Arts Integration & STEAM Conference in St. Louis, where educators from across the country explored innovative ways to bring creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning into the classroom. 🔬👩🏼‍🔬
From coding LED lights and experimenting with paper microscopes to integrating music, engineering, art, and problem-solving, Mr. Isham is returning with exciting new ideas that will inspire our students to think critically, create boldly, and explore the world in new ways. 🔎🎨🎶🧪
Professional growth opportunities like these are just one of the many ways CJDS invests in both our teachers and our students. We believe the best learning happens when curiosity, creativity, and innovation come together—and we can’t wait to see these fresh ideas come to life in our classrooms this year!
