Though summer is racing by, we have an exciting announcement to share with you!!

The Charlotte Choirs are BEYOND excited to welcome Mariah Latoszewski as the new Director of Vocal Music at CMS! Mariah joins us as a recent graduate of Western Michigan. She will be teaching our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs, as well as continuing our Exploration of Music class! She has already been working alongside Mr. Timmer to help us have the best year yet! Please read Mariah’s message below, and give her a warm welcome!

Hello everyone!

My name is Mariah Latoszewski, and I am beyond excited to be joining Charlotte Public Schools as the new Middle School Choir Director!

I am a recent graduate of Western Michigan University where I had the incredible opportunity to grow my love for music and teaching. I can’t wait to share my passion for music with you! When I’m not singing, I love to bake, knit & crochet, spend time with my friends & family, and hang out with my cat, Phoebe!

I’m looking forward to an amazing year full of music making with all of you! Go Orioles!

Thanks for an amazing year of music!! We’re excited to share our music with you again in the fall…but we’re also excited that it’s finally summer! Until then, enjoy some of our favorite memories from this year!

Last week was Cabaret 47 and Cabaret Jr. for our Charlotte Choirs! Our students put on an amazing show, and we’re grateful for all of your support this year. It’s been an amazing year of singing and we can’t wait to perform for you again in the fall. Next up, graduation and our music awards night!

This past Saturday, two of our Charlotte Choir students sang in the MSVMA All-State Honors Choir. This is one of the highest achievements that our choir students can be selected for. To have the chance to perform on Saturday, our students were chosen from the already competitive MSMVA State Honors Choir groups they were a part of in January. This is only the second time in Charlotte Choir history that our students have been chosen for All-State Honors Choir! A HUGE congrats to senior Averie, and freshman Bri!

Cabaret Jr. and Cabaret 47 are quickly approaching! Next week Thursday, May 14th and Friday May 15th, our Charlotte Choirs will take the CPAC stage to share a few of America's Greatest Hits with you! Tickets can be bought both in advance at charlotteperformingartscenter.com, as well as at the door before each show. Be sure to refer to the flyers attached for more information on the exciting week ahead!

If you are a Charlotte or Greater Lansing business owner, it's not too late to secure a spot in our Cabaret 47 program! Our Charlotte Vocal Music Boosters are also hosting a basket raffle! We have three amazing baskets full of goodies including baking supplies, and games! This exciting fundraiser helps our CVMB provide opportunities for every student involved in the Charlotte Vocal Music Program (including students in the CHS & Arts for Youth musicals), not just those in our Charlotte Choirs! You can purchase raffle tickets at both Cabaret Jr. and Cabaret 47 shows. The winners will be announced on the 15th!

Four of our CHS students performed at MSVMA State Solo and Ensemble today! The students who performed today had to receive a Division I rating at District Solo and Ensemble in January. In addition to singing their two pieces today, students were also required to sight read for an adjudicator (and they were up for the challenge!).

Two of our students received Division I ratings, and two received Division II ratings. They have worked extremely hard to get to this point and we are proud of every one of them! Congrats to Sarah, Milton, Averie, and Grace!

In a few weeks our CHS Choirs will perform at their Spring Vocal Music Concert, followed by Cabaret and Cabaret Jr. shortly after! We’ve got a lot of exciting music to share soon!
