Sugar Creek Charter School Welcome to Sugar Creek Charter School. Our school houses K-12th grade. Our school has begun a renewed focus on technology as an instructional tool.

Our faculty and our staff provide students and parents with an inviting atmosphere where our goal is to assist students to become the best and the brightest in Charlotte. We offer our students a balanced academic program in our core curriculum with a strong emphasis on reading and math. Our school also offers students many “special” programs for enrichment and fulfillment such as Character Education, Computers, PE, Art and Music. Sugar Creek Charter students have many services available to them throughout the school day. These include: Exceptional Children (EC) services, full-time nursing care, and a part-time mental health professional. Students and teachers at our school have been working very hard improving reading and math scores. Besides improving academics, our students and faculty continue to implement our “Code of Civility” focusing on character education. Our faculty and staff feel that educating students for responsible citizenship is part of our responsibility to children. Teachers and students are offered more access to technology and to the Internet. We feel that we offer students, teachers, and parents a safe learning environment. Let’s celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Creek! 💙💛

SCCS is honoring Hispanic and Latino history, culture, traditions and contributions through music, stories, cultural activities and school spirit!

From Flag Spirit Day and Fútbol Jersey Day to Mi Cultura, Mi Orgullo Day, students will have opportunities to learn, celebrate and share pride in their heritage. Check out the flyer for our full schedule! 🌎

👕 Spirit day reminder: Khaki bottoms and black shoes are required. Approved themed tops, accessories, jewelry and headwear are welcome.

At our Sept. 10 Family Engagement Council meeting we discussed trust, immigration concerns and the importance of every family feeling welcomed and supported.

One parent from our Hispanic community encouraged other Hispanic families to speak up and attend events because your voices matter. We agree! Interpretation is available at FEC meetings to help families participate.

FEC gives you a place to bring forward everyday frustrations, ask questions and work with school staff toward solutions. Your survey responses help us understand which concerns are affecting families most.  

📝 Help us reach 500 family survey responses by Friday, Sept. 18.

Take 10 to 20 minutes to tell us what is working, what needs attention and how SCCS can better support your family. Submit one survey per family. Available in English, Spanish and French.
Four families will receive a $25 Walmart gift card, and the homeroom in each grade level with the most completed surveys will earn a doughnut party.
Participation is voluntary, and all responses are completely confidential. The survey is conducted by SchermCo Foundation on behalf of SCCS.

Our planned focus is supporting students who learn differently, including dyslexia, other learning challenges and practical strategies for home and school. Families are welcome whether or not their child receives EC services. Dinner will be provided for this meeting and will be provided every other FEC meeting! SCCS families, join us Thursday, Sept. 10, for an evening of resources, connection and conversation! 💙💛

Our Mobile Food Pantry will be available from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by Family Engagement Council Meeting No. 2 at 6 p.m. This month, we are celebrating culture and learning more about how SCCS supports multilingual families.

Come meet members of our ESL team, hear family perspectives, share ideas for Hispanic Heritage Month and bring questions or concerns you would like our team to help address.

Families can participate in person or virtually, and volunteers are welcome to help with the food distribution.
