Tomorrow, June 10 marks the last day of school for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students, but our construction teams are already moving full speed ahead into one of their busiest seasons.

Take a look at this timelapse of Dilworth Elementary School (formerly Park Road Montessori), from the design phase in 2023 to construction in 2024. This new school is on track to welcome students for the 2026-27 school year.

While classrooms grow quiet for the summer, progress across CMS bond projects continues at a steady pace—building modern, innovative learning spaces for students across the district.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Berryhill School Bond Project Update Meeting! Community members had the opportunity to view renderings and plans presented by DLR Group, ask questions, and learn more about the future new Berryhill School, which is expected to open in August 2028. We appreciate your engagement and support as we continue investing in our students and community.

At Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, our Construction Department team knows that safety is more than a requirement at our bond project sites—it’s a core value. During National Safety Month and every day of the year, we promote a culture where safety conversations matter and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to protecting everyone on site.

Required PPE includes ANSI Z87-approved safety glasses, task-specific rated gloves, shirts with at least a ¼-inch sleeve, high-visibility safety vests, and work boots with hard soles, leather uppers, and ankle coverage. By following these standards and prioritizing safe work practices, we help ensure that every worker returns home safely while building exceptional learning environments for our students and community.

A new era is taking shape at North Mecklenburg High School. These latest drone views show major progress on the future stadium, which is expected to be completed by late fall of the 2026–27 school year. The project will include new grandstands and bleachers, athletic turf, upgraded facilities, ticket booths, restrooms, a field house, and more. The new school building remains on track to open in 2028, with additional softball and baseball fields planned after the existing school is removed.

Exciting transformations are coming to J.T. Williams Secondary Montessori (fka Marie G. Davis Montessori Upfit)! New carpet in the media center is already making the space look amazing, with even more upgrades on the way thanks to the 2023 Bond. From outdoor classrooms and greenhouse learning spaces to upgraded Montessori and theater arts rooms, this campus is transforming for the 2026–27 school year. Exciting progress continues at North Mecklenburg High School as construction moves forward on the new athletic stadium and future school campus. The stadium is expected to be ready for this fall’s football season and will include new grandstands/bleachers, athletic turf, upgraded facilities, ticket booths, restrooms, a field house, and more. The new school building is on track to open in 2028, with additional softball and baseball fields planned after the current building is removed.

Thanks to the 2023 bond, one of the oldest schools in CMS — with parts of the campus dating back to the 1950s — is undergoing a major transformation. Athletic Director Jennifer Baker shared how excited the school community is for safer, modern facilities while honoring the school’s long-standing history.

A look at progress from above. Sharing drone views of the South Mecklenburg High School athletic facilities as construction continues on the new football field and surrounding campus improvements. The faculty and staff of Dilworth Elementary School toured the new school under construction at 3701 Haven Dr., the former Park Road Montessori site, and shared their excitement for the future campus opening in August for the 2026–27 school year.

Made possible by the 2023 bond, the new facility will welcome 850 K–5 students from Dilworth Elementary and Marie G. Davis, bringing together both school communities under one roof.
