Happy Birthday Providence Preparatory School!

Celebrating 14 years at Providence and 12 years at Westbury, and so grateful for the children, families, teachers, and community who have made these years so special.

A special thank you to Samantha Matthews, our amazing Curriculum Coordinator, for helping make PPS’ birthday celebration extra special with these beautiful lobby decorations at both buildings!

In the Providence Birch Classroom, students explored transportation and the many ways we travel by land, water, and sky.

Children built bridges and roads in the block area, took their vehicles through a car wash in the sandbox and water area, and experimented with ramps to discover how they could make cars move fast or slow. They also explored transportation puzzles and enjoyed riding bikes and scooters outdoors while pretending to be emergency vehicles.

From building and problem-solving to imaginative play and movement, transportation week gave students plenty of ways to explore how things move and how we get from one place to another.

Thank you to Ms. Nicole, Ms. Taranja, and Ms. Sara for creating such engaging experiences for their students.

In the Westbury Palm Classroom, students explored a travel theme through painting, storytelling, sensory experiences, and imaginative play.

Children painted pictures of how they traveled to school, created airplanes inspired by Bearplane, and experimented with making vehicle tracks by rolling cars through paint. The exploration continued at the classroom “car wash,” where children helped clean the painted cars and extended their play in a new way.

Through these experiences, students explored different textures, movements, and ways to express their ideas while having fun with the many ways we can travel.

Thank you to Ms. Taylor and team for creating such engaging opportunities for exploration and creativity.

In the Providence Spruce Classroom, children enjoyed a variety of creative, sensory, and interactive experiences that invited them to explore, experiment, and connect with one another.

From creating colorful artwork with their hands, feet, feathers, and chalk to exploring colors, textures, and movement through playful activities, there were plenty of opportunities for discovery. Children also enjoyed time together looking at books and engaging with their teachers and classmates, creating a balance of active exploration and shared moments throughout the day.

Thank you to Ms. Hilda, Ms. Zoe, and Ms. Nicarda for filling the classroom with opportunities for creativity, connection, and discovery.

In the Westbury Maple Classroom, students explored the many people who help make our communities stronger through a community helpers theme.
Through imaginative play, children stepped into different roles, caring for patients in their classroom doctor’s office, putting on construction gear, and getting ready to serve as police officers and firefighters. These experiences gave children opportunities to explore helping others, caring for their community, and using their imaginations to bring different roles to life.
Thank you to the Westbury Maple teaching team for creating such fun opportunities for children to explore the important work happening all around them.

In the Providence Pine Classroom, students stomped into a week of dinosaur-themed exploration through play and discovery.

Children used washable paint and plastic dinosaurs to create colorful dinosaur footprints across paper while exploring how different shapes and textures make unique prints. They also enjoyed searching for dinosaurs hidden in a bin of shredded paper, encouraging curiosity, sensory exploration, and imaginative play.

Thank you to Ms. Kelsey, Ms. Nicarda, and Ms. Veronica for creating such engaging opportunities for learning and discovery.

In the Westbury Magnolia Classroom, students explored the magic of color through a hands-on painting experience.

Using red, blue, and yellow paint, children worked together to discover how primary colors can be mixed to create new secondary colors. After finding a friend with a different color, they mixed their painted hands together before creating colorful handprints on a large collaborative mural. Through this fun activity, students experienced the excitement of experimenting, collaborating, and discovering how colors change when combined.

Thank you to Ms. Laura Ann, Ms. Judy, and Ms. Meghan for creating such a creative and engaging learning experience.

Every day in the Providence Laurel Classroom brings new opportunities for exploration and discovery.

Children explored cause and effect through musical instruments and interactive toys, practiced problem-solving with stacking activities, and built confidence as they discovered new ways to move and explore their environment. From focused moments of investigation to exciting developmental milestones, each experience encouraged curiosity through hands-on play.

Thank you to Ms. Connie, Ms. Debbie, and Ms. Tytiana for creating a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to learn, explore, and grow at their own pace.
