CMSCA's Junior Open Chess Tournament is on Saturday - 11/19/2022!

Come to our first Rated Chess Tournament of the year! Register online by Friday (11/18/2022) or register in person on Saturday day of tournament!

Never played in a rated Chess Tournament? Well this is the perfect opportunity to play in your first rated chess tournament! Our friendly staff and volunteers will be happy to walk you through the process and assist you on tournament day.

If registration process is too confusing, please come early and we can help you register onsite. If you can, please sign up for a US Chess Federation Member ID (Youth Under 19 is $20) at their site - https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess. Once you have a US Chess Member ID, then you can register on our website below.

CMSCA: Junior Open Online registration is preferred; registration and payment via Paypal (credit card or bank account) will be accepted through 8:00 p.m. on the day prior to the start of the tournament. CMSCA Team Tournament
The first CMSCA Team Tournament of the school year will occur on October 15, 2022 at Olympic High School. Each year the CMSCA runs 3, value priced Team Tournaments. Any school may enter unlimited students for all three of these Team Tournaments for one low total price of $75. This tournament is unrated and is perfect for introducing your players to the exciting world of tournament chess.

Free Chess Lessons In-Person and Virtual
Our first session in September was a great success with a full room of eager chess students! We are looking to expand to other Public Libraries and make it more frequent. We also adding a virtual option. Next free chess lesson is this Sunday (10/09/2022). Space is limited please sign up via our website!

Chess at CMS Schools

Data Science and Chess
Do you have a student interested in pursuing a career in Data Science or Tech and also love Chess? Then we have the project for you! We have brought onboard a Data Scientist that will be working with students on a Data Science Project that will combine the field of Data Science with Chess. March 6-8, 2020

Discount Rate of $49 Ends January 31
This is the youth chess event of the year! Over 320 Players already registered. All ability levels are encouraged to play, even first time tournament players. Every K-12 chess player that knows how to make checkmate should play this event. There are prizes at all different ability levels.

The Charlotte Chess Center will have a private team room where parents and CCCSA students may sit during and in-between rounds.

Top CCCSA instructors will also be there to assist students.
