Wingate revamps MASM program, shifts to online format
Wingate students can earn a master of arts in sport management in just three semesters, from wherever they are. The new online program will retain its hands-on focus and offer concentrations in sport marketing and in athletic administration and compliance.

Ballantyne's Professor Ellis to write textbook on diversity in education.
Tarra Ellis, assistant education professor, has accepted an offer from Cognella Publishing to create a textbook on ”Exploring Diversity in Education.” It will include research-based information and practical strategies for K-12 educators and will address the impact that identity, socioeconomic status, race, language, religion, privilege, gender, sexuality and nationality have on education.

Congratulations to Dr. Natalie Winfree, of the Community College Executive Leadership Doctoral program, on her successful Capstone Defense!
Dr. Winfree's research focused on identifying characteristics impacting retention of first-time, first-enrolled college students at a small, rural community college in North Carolina to determine if differences exist between first-generation and non-first-generation students.

Congratulations to Dr. Hema Lalwani on her successful Capstone defense!

Darrel Staat, assistant professor and coordinator of Wingate’s Community College Executive Leadership program, made two presentations, Oct. 4 and 5, on information from his recently published book, Facing an Exponential Future: Technology and the Community College.
One presentation was at the Virginia Community College Association Conference in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the other at the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators in Raleigh.
Staat discussed ten 21st-century technologies that will affect education and urged his audience to prepare their schools to remain viable in a digital world.
