🕺 Smellvis has left the building.

🌺 We pollinated Smellvis on Monday night at midnight with pollen from Cadavera, when Smellvis was at “peak stink.”

🌱 On Wednesday, we collected pollen from Smellvis and put it back into deep freeze, for future use on our next titan arum bloom.

We’re all shook up over our Smellvis visitors!

Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber and Dean Bernadette Donovan-Merkert visited the blooming titan arum and got into the spirit of Smellvis. 🎶🌺

Botanical Gardens Assistant Director Tammy Blume explained the pollination process, and how the team accessed the pollen and flowers of the inflorescence.

The Botanical Gardens hosted several class tours this week and Smellvis, the titan arum, made quite the impression on everyone! The students love “Dr. Jeff” and always learn from the tours. 💚
