Congratulations to these Excellence in Speaking Institute graduates 🎓

This group came together from different organizations, backgrounds, and experiences, but shared one goal: becoming more confident, effective communicators.

Over the course of ESI, they challenged themselves, learned from one another, and developed practical skills they can carry into every presentation, conversation, and leadership moment ahead.

We’re proud to celebrate each of you and all that you accomplished.

One of the biggest mistakes leaders make with AI is not allowing themselves enough time to practice using it.

After generating what seemed like the perfect email, our CEO, Molly Hunt, copied it over and hit send... only to realize the AI prompts and instructions had gone with it.

Embarrassing? Absolutely.
Valuable lesson? Even more so.

✅ Practice before it matters
✅ Review before you send
✅ Learn from mistakes
✅ Build confidence through repetition

Technology can accelerate your effectiveness, but mastery still requires preparation.

The best leaders don't just use new tools. They develop the skills to use them well.

Be courageous. Be authentic. Be memorable.

What if the secret isn’t overcoming fear, but making friends with it?

We often treat fear like an enemy. We fight it, resist it, and wish it would disappear.

But the more we try to eliminate fear, the more power we give it.
Ty Boyd taught that fear is often part of caring. If the conversation, presentation, or opportunity matters, nerves usually show up too.

The goal isn’t to become fearless. It’s to stop letting fear decide what you’re capable of.

Don’t wait for the butterflies to disappear. Learn to fly with them.

AI Can Spark the Idea. You Bring It to Life.

AI is at its best when it helps you think, not when it thinks for you.

AI can be a valuable communication tool, helping leaders organize ideas, refine messages, and develop stories.

The key is remembering that AI is a launching pad, not the destination.

Great communication still requires:
✅ Authenticity
✅ Human connection
✅ Personal experience
✅ Executive presence

AI can help shape the message. But it will never replace the person delivering it. That's what makes great leaders memorable.

Be courageous. Be authentic. Be memorable.

The biggest risk with AI isn't the technology itself.

It's letting it replace the very thing that makes you effective: your personality, presence, and human connection.

Leaders can use AI to simplify tasks, improve communication, and stay productive, while still protecting what matters most: authentic relationships.

No tool can replace:
✅ One-on-one connection
✅ Executive presence
✅ Trust and accessibility
✅ The way you show up in a room

Use AI to support your communication. Don't let it become your voice.

Be courageous. Be authentic. Be memorable.

Who’s sitting on your shoulder: a critic or a coach?

One of the biggest obstacles to becoming a better communicator isn’t a lack of skill. It’s the voice in your head.

The critic says:
“You should have said that differently.”
“Everyone noticed you were nervous.”
“You’re not good at this.”

A coach says:
“That part worked.”
“Let’s improve this.”
“Try it again.”

The difference? Judgment vs. growth.

Instead of asking, “Was I perfect?” ask, “What can I learn?”

The next time you finish a presentation or difficult conversation, pay attention to the voice that shows up afterward.

Is it a critic or a coach?

Many executives are making a costly mistake. They are either behind the curve in learning AI or relying on it too much.

Leaders must continually learn, stay ahead of change, and understand how to use AI to create a competitive advantage. At the same time, authenticity must remain more important than automation.

People can tell when a message is AI-generated. They can feel the difference between convenience and genuine connection.

This doesn't mean we should avoid AI. For the sake of our businesses, we should embrace it, learn it, and use it wisely while remaining authentic, approachable, and human.

Be courageous. Be authentic. Be memorable.

What if the “bare minimum” is actually what sets you apart?

Making eye connection. Offering a handshake. Speaking with confidence. Listening when someone speaks.

These simple acts of communication can make a lasting impression, especially in a generation where they’re becoming less common.

Communication isn’t just about what you say. It reflects who you are, what you value, and how you show up.

That’s why Ty Boyd has always believed: It’s all about communication.
