Trial Lawyers College congratulates 2025 graduate Matt Uhrig for obtaining a judgment of acquittal – while the jury was still deliberating – for a client whom the State of Missouri charged with First Degree Endangerment of a Child (Serious Injury). The case arose from a car crash, in which Matt’s client Brandon had placed his child in his car seat, but the car seat was not properly secured. Brandon’s girlfriend was driving at the time of the crash. She was not drunk, speeding or otherwise driving erratically. The impact ejected the little boy from the vehicle; the State of Missouri argued that if Brandon had secured the car seat, his son would not have been ejected. Trial lasted 2 ½ days in a 79-degree courtroom, ending with the judge agreeing that no reasonable jury could find Brandon guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Great work, Matt! We are proud of you!

Voir dire is one of the most critical moments in trial. Before lawyers can earn trust, ask meaningful questions, or help jurors speak honestly, they must first understand where the real danger lives in the case.

In this interactive 90-minute virtual course, participants will explore the first essential step of TLC voir dire: identifying danger points. Led in the style of a TLC small group, this program will invite participants to work with real case material, engage with the group, and examine why identifying danger points is crucial to making the remaining steps of voir dire work. This course is exclusive to TLC graduates.
