Please join us in welcoming Mr. Christopher Bain, our new third through eighth grade art teacher and boys soccer coach!

Mr. Bain comes to PES with more than 15 years of experience teaching visual arts to students from fourth grade through the college level. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Boston University and has taught everything from drawing and painting to art history and Advanced Placement courses. He is also a professional artist with experience as a gallery director and curator.

This year, Mr. Bain is especially looking forward to building camaraderie among the boys soccer players and watching his art students grow in confidence, explore their creativity, and develop their own artistic voices.

We are thrilled to have Mr. Bain on our team. Welcome to the Gryphon community!

Our second graders recently visited their Junior Kindergarten Reading Buddies for the first time this year.
Each student spent time reading one-on-one with their assigned buddy, giving our second graders the chance to practice reading aloud while getting to know one of our youngest Gryphons.

There is so much value in this time together. Second graders are able to work on fluency, expression, listening, and communication in a setting that feels different from the classroom, while our JK students get the encouragement of an older student reading alongside them.

It’s a brand new season for PES Equestrian, and we are so excited for the year ahead!

This year, our riders are participating in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), a team equitation format that adds a unique challenge to competition. Riders draw an unfamiliar horse and are asked to adapt quickly, relying on their skill, confidence, and horsemanship as they compete against teams from other schools and barns.

Our Gryphons had a strong first showing of the season, earning a 1st place over fences, 4th place on the flat, and 6th place in beginner equitation on the flat.

We are so proud of the way our riders represented PES, and can’t wait to watch this team continue to grow throughout the season.

A Hands-On Start to Science!
All of our Middle School students kicked off the first week of school with a hands-on science lab designed to give them a glimpse of the exciting learning ahead in Ms. Craze’s science classes this year!

Students mixed yeast, hydrogen peroxide, food coloring, dish soap, and water to create a fun, foamy reaction. The activity encouraged students to observe, ask questions, and explore scientific concepts through hands-on learning.

It was the perfect way to start the year and introduce students to the experimentation, discovery, and hands-on experiences they can look forward to in science class this year!

Our Gryphons walked through the doors ready for a new year, and they brought the whole campus to life with them. They found their friends, met their teachers, explored their classrooms, and got off to a flying start!

This morning, our JK and Kindergarten parents gathered at Palisades Country Club for our annual Boo-Hoo Yahoo Breakfast, marking a morning that feels both exciting and tender as their children step into new adventures.

Meanwhile, back on campus, there were so many smiling faces in the classrooms. Our youngest Gryphons are already finding their wings, and we could not be more proud of them.

To our JK and Kindergarten families, thank you for sharing your children with us. We know how much love and trust is wrapped up in that goodbye. It is our honor to know them, teach them, and watch them soar!
