Marion Diehl Pool is Finally open!! I’m not there and I will guess all of the programs will be taught by the lifeguards. ( I could be wrong) but make sure whoever is teaching your child has both experience as well as ability. A warm body is not the only criteria when choosing a teacher.

With the pool still being closed at Marion Diehl, I think we can count on there not being a swim team anymore. And if you understand, that also means that developmental swim teams through the Hornets Nest League are also over. We have Mecklenburg County park and rec to thank for killing all of these programs in Charlotte. 

Well, it seems like Ginny has had her way with Mecklenburg County Aquatics… No developmental swim teams, No experienced instructors. A few years ago Mecklenburg County was the place to go for quality aquatic programs. Go to the programs page, do a search, see what I mean. Oh, and Marion Diehl pool is still closed.

Well, I heard second hand today that Marion Diehl pool is closed for the foreseeable future, the new decking was done incorrectly and the HVAC system is out. The dry side of the center with the basketball courts is supposed to be open sometime this summer.

I haven’t heard anything from Mecklenburg county yet, I have no idea what their plans are.

No word on any reopening, There will be no Hornet's Nest League this winter. Stay Safe!

I saw this article about reopening pools, in this format I feel SwimTeam’s and meets would be out of the question.

The Pool Management Group After Stay at Home orders are no longer in place, it’s important that swimming pools open in a safe manner that reduces the spread of COVID-19. The good news is the pool environment lends itself to successfully accomplishing this objective:

I finally spoke to someone from Marion Diehl who still works for the county. They are looking toward August for the re-opening. I'm glad I didn't post spring stroke clinic flyers!

Hi Everyone, we were trying to work out having a team that was Marion Diehl at the YWCA on Park Rd concurrently with the Orange crush. Unfortunately we found out his week that that was not going to work due to their existing classes and schedule. So with that being the case, I may be helping Brian coach the swim team at the YWCA in January, Then after that is over Marion Deihl should be finished and we can start spring stroke clinic there in March.

This is not the result I wanted, but I am happy that they tried to work something out for us.
