As CCRI begins its 45th year of service, we're giving back to the child care community that has grown with us, and the first gift is for family child care! We're giving away 45 "The Creative Curriculum for Family Child Care" kits to early educators, and we'll be partnering with them for the next year on coaching and implementation. Today's "Tuesdays in Training" spotlight is Preschool Pyramid Model - Engagement! This training will describe strategies for promoting engagement through choice, predictability, modifications, and positive descriptive feedback. Participants will identify the practices they currently use to promote a supportive environment and reflect on the promotion of engagement for each child, including positive descriptive feedback. They will explore strategies for increasing engagement by embedding the power of choice throughout the day and making intentional modifications to activities, interactions, and materials for promoting child engagement. This training is designed to review the general characteristics of toddlers in the five NC FELD Domains (APL, ESD, CD, LDC, ESD). Last week, some of our team attended the Catawba College Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Education - CEECE's Cultivate Conference! For two days, we got to learn, hear an amazing keynote from Ellen Galinsky, connect with other early childhood educators from around the state, and present about our Healthy Social Behaviors Project. Thanks for an incredible conference — we’re already looking forward to next year’s!
