When you're trying to improve your writing scores - don't turn to templates or formulas, those just don't sound natural. Try increasing your knowledge and use of transitional words and phrases! So today is FRIDAY and with that in mind we are going to have some fun Friday ESL facts!
ESL Tip of the Day:
One way to ensure you get your highest score on your FIRST attempt is to make sure you are familiar with the TEST FORMAT. Understand how the test looks, the timing, even how it is displayed on a screen. This will allow you to feel more comfortable and relaxed because - you've seen it before! You can accomplish this by taking practice tests through your testing agency's website and they're usually FREE!
Top tips for getting your desired speaking score on the IELTS:
1. Don't be shy! This is a time to talk about yourself and who knows you better than you?
2. Your opinions aren't being judged here - just your ability to present them.
3. Try to enjoy the chat, think of it like you're on the train or sharing a car ride with a stranger and you're just making small talk so it's not so quiet.
4. Become comfortable expressing yourself in your native language first - then translate your response to English.
Above all, keep practicing! You've got this!
ESL Update for the day:
Did you know that the TOEFL is updating their testing format? That's right! The test is being shortened to just under two hours! Every section will be adjusted (with the exception of the speaking section which will remain at around 16 minutes in length). So - for those of you who gave up on the TOEFL, it might be time to give it another try! Let me know if you need help, I am happy to do so! [email protected]
