Why do we teach children good manners? ⭐️

Because every etiquette tradition has a purpose. 🍽️

Many of the customs we still practice today have been passed down for generations, not because they’re old-fashioned, but because they help us show kindness, respect, and consideration for others.

At the National League of Junior Cotillions®, we believe children are more likely to practice good manners when they understand why they matter.

This is the first post in our new “Why Do We?” series, where we’ll uncover the fascinating history behind the etiquette lessons that continue to shape confident, respectful young people.

💬 Which table manner surprised you the most?

📌 Save this post to revisit with your family, and share it with another parent who believes good manners still matter.
