First days are full of little moments of magic. ✨

We’re soaking up the joy, the curiosity, the connections—and also remembering that settling into a new rhythm takes time. For some children it’s days; for others, several weeks. There is no one timeline.

So we’ll keep showing up with patience, consistency, and wonder as these spaces slowly become theirs. 🤍

The classrooms are ready for the 26-27 school year! 🌿

Thoughtfully prepared spaces, beautiful materials, open-ended invitations, natural elements, and traces of the children who came before them.

We believe the environment is part of the learning—an invitation to wonder, explore, make meaning, and find a hundred ways to express an idea.

And now, the spaces are ready to be filled with the children’s ideas, questions, relationships, movement, and stories. We can’t wait to see how they make these spaces their own—and how, in turn, they transform them!

A year woven together with time, wonder, collaboration, and so much time outdoors.

With muddy hands, long afternoons, questions without easy answers, stories, friendships, big feelings, loose parts, gardens, art, movement, and the quiet magic of children figuring things out together.

A day at the farm, with plenty to notice. 🌿

To celebrate our last week of the school year, our Discovery, Adventurer, and Builder classrooms spent the day at Shelburne Farms alongside some wonderful parent volunteers.

We milked a cow, fed donkeys, pet sheep, noticed the details of the farm, and followed our curiosity from one experience to the next.

A good reminder of the value in real experiences!

Last week, our Voyager campers explored the language of art during Art Week! 🎨

Through open-ended invitations, children experimented with texture, color, pattern, and transformation—creating cornstarch and dish soap dough, painting paper lanterns with watercolors, discovering how salt changes the movement of pigment, and exploring tape art as a medium for design and expression.

We believe that art is not simply about making something beautiful; it is another language children use to think, communicate, and make sense of the world.

Earlier this week, the Adventure and Builder classrooms enjoyed one of our favorite summer traditions: our annual blueberry picking field trip to Sweet Roots Farm! 🫐

Surrounded by families, teachers, and the beauty of the farm, we gathered to read the beloved story Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey before setting off to explore the blueberry fields.

Together, we picked a total of 19 pints of blueberries! Each child brought home a pint to enjoy with their family, and we’ll continue tcelebrating our harvest by serving local blueberries at snack over the coming weeks.

We are so grateful to Sweet Roots Farm for welcoming us and helping create another memorable summer adventure! 💙

Last week, our Voyager Campers took on Science Week! 👩🏽‍🔬🔬

Throughout the week, the children explored, questioned, predicted, experimented, and discovered through hands-on investigations, including making lava lamps, creating magic bubbles, transforming raw eggs into bouncy balls, and experimenting with oobleck.

Each invitation to explore reminded us that science in early childhood is rooted in curiosity, wonder, and the freedom to test ideas. Great discoveries often begin with a simple question: “What do you think will happen?” 🤔

🧑🏽‍🍳⏲️🍅 This week, our Voyager Campers immersed themselves in the joy of Cooking Week! Each day brought a new opportunity to explore ingredients, practice using real kitchen tools, and create something delicious from scratch.

Together, they made fresh pesto, creamy hummus, banana pancakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, and homemade tomato sauce, bringing a taste of their learning home to share with their families.

Cooking is so much more than following a recipe. It invites children to engage all of their senses, build confidence, strengthen fine motor skills, practice early math and science concepts, and experience the satisfaction of creating something with care. We love providing meaningful, hands-on experiences that nurture capable, curious, and connected learners.

While exploring sunflowers, the children had the idea to use the flowers themselves as paintbrushes, creating beautiful textures and patterns through art. At CCC, we honor nature not only as something to observe, but as a tool for creativity, exploration, and self-expression.

✨ A space for the people who spend their days creating spaces for children. ✨

At Charlotte Children’s Center, we believe that caring for children begins with caring for the adults who nurture them every day.

Our teacher lounge was intentionally designed as a place to pause, reflect, connect, and recharge. Early childhood educators spend their days fully present—comforting, teaching, guiding, observing, and responding to the needs of young children. That work requires enormous emotional energy, creativity, and heart.

Having a dedicated space to sit with a cup of coffee, share ideas with a colleague, read, think, laugh, or simply enjoy a quiet moment is not a luxury—it’s an important part of sustaining meaningful work.

When teachers have opportunities to refill their own cups, they return to children with renewed patience, presence, and joy. Strong relationships among staff also strengthen our entire school community, creating a culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and connected.
