Reid Park Celebrates Attendance Awareness Month!
Beginning next week, we will host a different activity each week to honor attendance awareness month and motivate our scholars to come to school!
Week of 9/8-9/12: POD WARS!
Each grade level will compete against each other, and at the end of the week the grade level with the highest attendance rate will win an ICE CREAM PARTY!
Week of 9/15-9/19: Schoolwide Attendance Challenge!
We will compete as a school to make sure 90% of our students show up each day. If we reach our goal everyday this week, we will get to PIE THE PRINCIPAL!
Week of 9/22-9/26: Attendance Spirit Week! Flyers will be sent home!
Monday: Wear your favorite superhero gear! (No masks or weapons if you wear a costume)
Tuesday: Hat Day!
Wednesday: Wacky Tacky Day!
Thursday: Crazy Hair Day!
Friday: Pajama Day!

We missed you! Welcome back for another amazing school year of fun and learning! At Reid Park Academy, we believe that all of our scholars have H.E.A.R.T. (high expectations, excellence, achievement, relationships, and tenacity). The Student Services team wants to see all Rams excel in the following three areas, academics, behavior, and attendance. We believe that all of our scholars and families CAN and WILL achieve. We look forward to loving and supporting you this school year!

Together, the Student Services PLC provides an array of social, emotional, behavioral, mental health, and academic support services to help our scholars and families have a success school year, and to create a safe learning environment. Ms. Pinkney (School Social Worker)
Ms. Pinkney is a Charlotte native. She has been working at Reid Park Academy since 2019. She hopes for all scholars and families to have confidence in who they are, try their best, and show up for themselves every single day!

She has a pet turtle named Leo.
She LOVES to travel and try new, adventurous things!

Ms. Thompson (School Counselor)
Ms. Thompson is a Charlotte native. She has been working for CMS since 2004. She hopes for all scholars to learn how to use their social skills that best impacts their academics and behavioral goals!

Ms. Richardson (School Psychologist)
Ms. Richardson is originally from Florida, but joined the CMS team in 2022. This is Ms. Richardson's third school year at RPA. She continues to enjoy watching our scholars grow academically and within their emotional skills. She hopes for all students to feel welcomed and prideful to be a RAM!

Mrs. Abrams (Communities In Schools- Youth Development Coordinator)
Mrs. Abrams graduated from Texas Tech University and has been working with children and families since. She loves being married (33 years) and has 2 adult children, and 1 grandson who has stolen her heart. Her FAITH is everything to her, as it keeps her grounded, centered and reminded of what's truly important!
Fun Facts about Mrs. Abrams:
She has run 2 half marathons.
She enjoys camping.
She lived in Greece as a child for 4 years.

Good Evening Reid Park Academy Families! We have exciting news to share!!! Reid Park Academy exceeded growth expectations last year and now is a D school! We are so proud of the hard work of our staff and students, and we can't wait to see how we LEVEL UP this year! Go Rams!
We are going to experience below normal temperatures this week, please make sure your student has on a jacket, hat, and gloves.
RPA is a uniform school, students contiually out of school uniform will be sent to ISS pending a change of clothes. See the school website for the detailed uniform policy.
Students will be taking their iReady diagnositic tests this week in reading and math. These assessments are used to provide teachers with data to tailor lessons to students needs. Encourage your child to do their best.
Friday, January 24th is a teacher workday, there is no school for students.
Please mark you calendar for February 5th our 2nd quarter Report Card Pick Up and February 7th our Sneaker Ball. Flyers went home in Thursday folders.

Dear Parents,
We only have 10 SPOTS left!! The Y Readers Afterschool program partners with select CMS schools to increase the academic achievement of students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Your child was recommended by the academic staff at their school, and we would love to have them participate in our program!
The Y Readers program is FREE, runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from your school’s dismissal until 5:30pm, and includes the following:
2 days of literacy instruction with certified teachers
Snack
Homework assistance
CMS bus transportation for students within school zone boundaries
Books to add to their home library
Special events such as Fall Fest, Winter Celebration, and our End of Program Ceremony
Family engagement opportunities

Tomorrow starts Red Ribbon Spirit week. Students are allowed to dress up according to the days theme. If they are unable to participate, they must be in school uniform. We look forward to seeing everybody show their spirit.
Dear Parents,
Beginning on Monday, October 21st through October the 23rd, all Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students will take the Beginning of Year Mastery View Predictive Assessments (MVPA) in Reading, Math, and 5th Grade Science. The MVPA assessments are designed to measure students’ academic performance and progress in the curriculum throughout the school year. To ensure your student does their best, please remind them of the following:
1. Go to bed on time and wake up on time.
2. Eat a good breakfast.
3. Take their time on the test.
