Over the past six months, our sister company Above All Greater Learning, had the privilege of working with an incredible group of professionals who serve on our Advisory Board, offering their expertise and guidance as we develop our Developmental Screening Initiative.
Their insights help ensure that our work is grounded in both practice and systems thinking supporting early identification and strengthening connections across early childhood education, health, family support, and community systems.
We are deeply grateful for the time, knowledge, and commitment each of these leaders brings to this work. Their guidance is helping move this initiative forward in meaningful ways. We look forward to continuing this work together to strengthen early identification and support for young children and families.

Are we failing our teachers?
After leading a full day training last Monday, my greatest take away was a question from co-teachers who expressed being overwhelmed with the number of children with emotional and developmental needs beyond their capacities of support.
This was not because the teachers aren’t qualified or willing to give each student what they need, but because the number of students is too much to physically and emotionally handle. I offered strategies and recommendations that they would like to implement but still cannot because of the time and assistance needed.
What actually made a difference was when one of their peers spoke up and applauded their effort, care, and consistency to try and meet the needs of their young learners in spite of their challenges. Following that was a unanimous ovation from the group, their village, applauding them. Both teachers wiped tears from their eyes and smiled.
Later, as I reflected, I thought there must be a plan to provide more support in the classrooms. This is a problem in many schools regardless of age and grade level.
Are we failing our teachers?

Early intervention starts with early recognition—and that means helping educators and families feel confident navigating developmental screening. My daughter was screen and diagnosed at age 4 and early intervention changed everything for her—and for us as a family. Developmental screenings aren’t just a step on a checklist if educators are concerned about delays or behavior—they’re an opportunity to unlock support, resources, and brighter futures for our kids
We’re currently building a developmental screening project that will provide:
✅ Clear guidance for programs on when and how to screen
✅ Family-friendly resources that demystify the process
✅ Culturally responsive, inclusion-minded supports for follow-up steps
This isn’t just about checking a box—it’s about creating systems of support where every child’s development is noticed, nurtured, and celebrated.
We’re excited to share more soon, and we’d love to hear from YOU:
What questions or challenges have you experienced around developmental screening in early childhood settings?
Let’s keep building inclusive, informed early learning communities—together. 💛

We know that educators are the heart of every classroom. And when you're overwhelmed, stressed, or unsupported, it becomes so much harder to meet the needs of your students. Hoping that you will prioritize your mental health and well-being. Children and adults need to feel safe, calm, and connected.
