Good evening, SP Families -

This is principal, Josh Allen with some important information for the upcoming week:

Monday SP's PTO will host our Class of 2027 at our annual Senior Sunrise in Lineberger Stadium. Seniors should plan to arrive @ 6:15 am.

Also Monday, SP will open its doors to all students and their families for our Back-to-School Open House from 5:00-6:30 pm. Students and their families are encouraged to come meet their teachers and learn where their classes will be this semester.

Reminder, SP will continue to sell parking passes ($20) this week. Juniors can purchase theirs Monday from 10-12, and Sophomores can purchase theirs Tuesday from 10-12.

Wednesday is the First Day of School! All students will report to their Advisory Class at the 8:30 bell. Please be on the lookout for the many forms students will bring home that require parent/guardian signatures. Your help in making sure these documents are signed and promptly returned to SP is appreciated.

Hello, SP Families -

We continue to get requests inquiring about school supplies for the upcoming school year. Here are a few important things to know:

-Basic supplies are perfect to start with (notebook paper, 1 inch 3-ring binders, pencils, colored pencils, highlighters). Anything beyond the basics will be communicated to your student on the first day of school.

-Student Chromebooks will be issued at the start of school. Every student will be issued a GCS-Chromebook and a Chromebook charger.

-To ensure compliance with district policies and procedures, no personal laptops, iPads, etc will be allowed for student use in classrooms.

Huge congratulations to our band students and Mr. Settlemyre for earning this honor!

South Point High School Bands has been officially been deemed a North Carolina Program of Distinction. This is a tremendous honor for both our students and our director! Only 88 high schools in North Carolina were awarded this honor!

Thank you students for all of your hard work and determination in making this program as successful as it can be. Your work never goes unnoticed and you are what keeps this program thriving!

Congratulations students and congratulations Mr. Settlemyre and this tremendous honor!

Hello, SP Families -

Here are several updates for you all as we prepare to begin the 2026-27 school year:

1 - Fall Sports Tryouts begin this week as outlined below . . .

Boys Soccer (JV & V) - Wednesday - Friday (July 29-31) from 8-10am on the upper practice field.
Volleyball (JV & V) - Varsity (no Freshmen or Sophomores) Wednesday (July 29) 8-10am in Main Gym. JV Wednesday (July 29) 4-6pm in Main Gym.
Football (JV & V) - Wednesday (July 29) 6-8pm meet in the fieldhouse (on practice field to follow).
Girls Tennis - Monday (August 3) at 4pm at the SPHS tennis courts.
Girls Golf - Monday (August 10) at 4pm at Hangtime Driving Range on New Hope Road (you must have your own golf clubs).
Boys & Girls Cross-Country - Tuesday (August 11) 3:45pm at bus lot.

2 - All student schedules were sent to the Post Office today (July 27). Please check your mail in the coming days for this to arrive.

3 - Related to student schedules, schedule corrections* will take place in our School Counseling Office as follows . . .

Senior Schedule Corrections - Aug 3 @ 8:00 am
Junior Schedule Corrections - Aug 3 @ 10:00 am
Sophomore Schedule Corrections - Aug 4 @ 8:00 am
Freshman Schedule Correction - Aug 4 @ 10:00 am

*Please note that these days/times are for schedule CORRECTIONS only. A schedule correction is needed when a student a) has a hole in their schedule, b) is scheduled for a class they've already successfully taken, or c) is scheduled for a class that requires a prerequisite class (for example, the student requested Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 but was only scheduled for Spanish 2).

Schedule changes will not be made. All students were registered for classes they requested (potentially including their alternate class selections) when they met with their school counselor last Spring.

4 - Raider 101 (Freshman Orientation) is Aug 5 from 8:30-10:00. Students should be dropped off at the back of the school (near the Gym Lobby/Auditorium). All freshmen are encouraged to attend. Parents should pick their student(s) up from the back of the school at 10:00.

5 - Senior Pictures will be Aug 6 & 7. Seniors should follow the information included in the attached picture flyer (in your email) from Carolina Photography (make sure to look at page 2 of the document).

6 - Student Parking Passes can be purchased as follows:

Seniors - Aug 6 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Aug 7 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Juniors - Aug 10 from 10:00 - 12:00 pm
Sophomores - Aug 11 from 10:00 - 12:00 pm

Parking Passes are $20 each (cash or check only).

7 - The SPHS Open House is Aug 10 from 5:00-6:30. All students and their families are encouraged to attend this drop-in Open House.

8 - As a reminder, Aug 12 is the first day of school. Our doors open each day for students @ 8:00. Students will report to the Cafeteria until 8:20. Students will report to their Advisory Class once the 8:30 bell rings (this information is found on the student's schedule).

SPHS Fall Sports include: Football (JV & V), Volleyball (JV & V), Women’s Tennis, Men’s Soccer (JV & V), Women’s Golf, Cross Country.

All athletes must have a current physical on-file w/ SPHS & must create or update their DragonFly account at www.dragonflymax.com.
