I am CoachRatt—an instructional coach with 30+ years in education, committed to helping teachers move the dial for students who need it most.
I specialize in turning data into action through simple, repeatable systems that actually work in real classrooms—not just on paper. From building strong small groups to leading powerful data cycles, my focus is always the same: growth, confidence, and results.
I’ve coached teachers to consistent academic growth, developed leaders, and created systems that support both new and veteran educators without overwhelm.
Around here, it’s all about purpose over pressure.
Because every child deserves a teacher who knows exactly what to do next—and every teacher deserves support that makes that possible.
— CoachRatt
Enjoyed partnering with South Pine Academy Parent Advocate, Daniella, to support parents with reading student reports to make a plan to help at home.

Loved having the opportunity to deliver a micro professional development workshop on aggressive monitoring. This old school remix of a teacher best practice evolved in 2010 with “Teach Like A Champion”. This practice allows teachers to move the dial for students long before the end of unit assessment or check point.

At year over 30 years in education, I am still growing as a coach, leader, and an eduction consultant. Certain norms are the foundation to a successful.
1 . We must build 💪🏾strong relationships with our students and believing and executing in a manner that they all can achieve at a high level.
2. We must commit to knowing and understanding our state standards.
3. We must commit to knowing and understanding our content BEFORE- delivering it.
4. We must commit to using informal and formal 📊 data to provide feedback and drive next steps.
5. We must commit to effectively managing our instructional time and classroom expectations.
These are the basics that new coaches should be looking for and supporting. You want this groundwork in place at the latest end of quarter 1️⃣.
Wellness Check is a key pillar to my G.R.O.W. Framework. You must inspect what you expect consistently. Add this as a priority to take a day to walk your classes to see if these things are budding, blooming, or flourishing in the classrooms. Have the unkept weeds of inconsistency stunted or destroyed the growth from the first month of school?
Need a thought partner? Want to brainstorm ideas for problems of practice around data driven instruction and action planning?
Join me in the “Greenhouse” on Tuesday, November 11th at 6:30 PM. “The crops (data) have yield a harvest (results), what’s next?

Coaches prep before you close out the year.
I was gifted an amazing opportunity to invite my team to the first in person USA Intensive Coaching Training today. The focus was on an observation and feedback cycles. The StepLab model has effectively integrated the best parts of of the leading schools of thought around coaching, Jim Knight and Paul Bambrick. However, their process and platform does some of the heavy lifting that is very important with new coaches learning how to effectively support teachers. Our trainers flew in from the UK, Josh Goodrich and Rachel were excellent trainers and very approachable. Zach was very knowledgeable. Shout out to my former coach, Linda Rhyne, for thinking of me , when this opportunity became available.
