EXCERPT: I walked through all four years of my college experience with shoulders slumped, head down, and a meager sense of self-confidence. It wasn’t until after dropping out of a masters degree in cello performance that I started to catch on to those stories I was telling myself.
Upon dropping out, I dropped headlong into the real world. I started teaching private cello lessons and taking freelance gigs. For the first time I stopped asking “what do they (teachers, my parents, administration) want from me?” And “what do I want?”
