Do you feel like you’re working against your ecosystem? Some days are easier than others to “extend grace” but what does that look like when you’re trying to raise awareness around accountability, equity, and respecting your peace?

💡 Any life hacks for hybrid teaching?
I’ve started using my iPad versus a computer and putting my in-person students in groups while working with the “zoomers.” Next week I think I’ll attempt to pair a zoomer with an in person partner to see how that goes. 🤞🏾
Here is the kicker..my hybrid teaching is only for our morning meeting which is the most awkward thing ever.

My fourth grader turned high school senior. She may never realize how much I needed to hear this. We ran into each other the week the Black Lives Matter mural was painted here in Charlotte. I felt someone looking at me and turned to find a familiar face. This young woman amazed me at the age of 9 and she still amazes me now. Homegirl has it going on!

The lie I told myself a few weeks ago about how I would begin planning for school. This picture is from 8/9, one day before our two week virtual PD began. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The reality is and was, I had to rework the model time and time again. But now as I prepare for day 1 (8/31), I can use this photo and the hot mess around me currently to remind myself that plans change. Keep on pushing. Stop comparing. Do your best. Our school scheduled a week off due to some political event happening in the city, just blocks away. It’s technically a week of vacation, and all day I’ve been battling between taking advantage of a break and feeling obligated to do something for work. I finally decided to rummage through pet smart, grocery shop, and send a few work emails/call students. I cooked lunch and ate it with my man. We had a good time. I did wedding things. I cuddled with the pups.
I work at that job, but it isn’t my life. And that’s what I tell myself about any job. Take breaks as they come sis.
