National Farmer’s Day

Thank you so much Basil Westcott and Richard Honeycutt!!!

Mr. Basil brought lots of farm animal picture to show, told us all about what a farmer does, and brought sweet potatoes we will wash and have for lunch.

Mr. Richard-brought his tractor and told us all about what it does on the farm and we got to take our pics.

The 1’s to almost 2’s loved looking at Cumberland Disposal pick up our trash

When I decided to do a class pet (3-5 year old class), I was really worried would the kids actually take care of Oink, would they throw him to the side, would the parents actually take the time to do the task, or would they think this is crazy. It’s simple for sure, but I know afternoons are busy, I questioned it a lot, but decided I wanted to do this.

Last night was night #1 with a friend and Oink, the child came in this morning telling all about what they did. He was so excited! He told us about the book they read, and he said he drew a picture of Oink with Dinosaurs.

I would say this was a success!

All the pictures will also go in the binder so they can go back and look at them.

It’s national lemon meringue pie day, we (2 year old class and 3-5 year old class) had no idea how to make meringue, so we made lemonade pie instead.

Then we really enjoyed our pie!!!

The 3-5’s are ready for our Class Pet.

They named him Friday. His name is Oink.

They have to take him home each night, document what they did, read a book to him, and take care of him all night.
