The Math and Science Academy of Charlotte - TMSA Charlotte is a tuition-free public charter school focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math (STEAM) in Charlotte, North Carolina. We serve more than 800 students from kindergarten through 12th grade on our two campuses. TMSA Charlotte was established as Queen City STEM School in 2015 by a group of public charter school advocat

es who supported effective, diverse, and well-funded public charter schools in North Carolina. Since its opening, QCSS closely cooperated with TMSA Public Charter Schools. This cooperation led QCSS to officially become a TMSA school in June 2022 after the approval of the NC State Board of Education. As our motto, "Science, Wisdom, Peace," signifies, we seek knowledge, pursue wisdom, and foster peace in all we do. Our robust academic program and character education develop students' skills to live in harmony with themselves, with others, and with the natural environment. We are committed to providing exceptional education in a safe, nurturing, and culturally responsive learning environment supported by a strong parent, school, and community partnership.

🏈🦁 HISTORY IN THE MAKING AT TMSA CHARLOTTE! 🦁🏈

What an exciting and unforgettable moment for our TMSA Charlotte Secondary School community as our high school students took the field for their first football game! 🎉

This moment was about much more than football. It was about teamwork, courage, school spirit, perseverance, and creating new traditions for our growing high school program. Our student-athletes represented TMSA Charlotte with pride, determination, and great energy as they competed together and supported one another from the first play to the final whistle.

We are incredibly proud of our students for having the courage to be among the first to help build this chapter of TMSA Charlotte history. Every practice, every challenge, every play, and every lesson learned on the field will help shape the foundation for the students who follow them.

A special thank you to our coaches, staff, families, students, and supporters who came together to encourage our Lions and make this milestone possible. ❤️

The journey is just beginning, and we cannot wait to see our student-athletes continue to learn, grow, lead, and compete!

💛 Su***de Prevention Month | Raising Awareness, Building Hope 💛

We are proud of our TMSA Charlotte Secondary School Middle School Lighthouse Team for taking the lead in promoting awareness, kindness, and support during Su***de Prevention Month.

Our student leaders worked together to decorate a meaningful bulletin board designed to remind our school community that every person matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and no one should feel alone. Through their creativity and leadership, our students are helping build a school culture where kindness, connection, and looking out for one another are part of who we are.

We appreciate our Lighthouse Team for using their leadership to make a positive difference and encourage others to spread hope, show kindness, and speak up when someone needs support.

Through advanced academic pathways, honors opportunities, academic competitions, robotics, arts, music, and leadership development, students can explore their strengths both inside and outside the classroom.

Our Pre-AP Chemistry students stepped into the lab this week for some hands-on science! 🔬 From mastering common lab equipment and essential safety techniques to using litmus paper to test acids and bases, they did an amazing job bringing textbook concepts to life.
