Meet Fletcher alumnus Hunter Tisdale ’13. After graduating from Fletcher, Hunter attended the University of South Carolina, where he earned bachelor's degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Experimental Psychology in 2018. After a gap year teaching undergraduate chemistry labs, he returned to the University of South Carolina to pursue a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry.

His research focuses on the chemistry of heavy radioactive elements, including uranium, plutonium, and americium, as well as X-ray crystallography, using X-rays to determine the atomic structures of solids. Much of his work has centered on developing new materials to contain nuclear waste, while also contributing to research on the chemistry involved in modern nuclear reactors. Hunter has authored 24 scientific journal articles, with more currently in progress. He earned his Ph.D. in August 2025 and now serves as both a chemistry lecturer and teaching assistant at the University of South Carolina.

🇯🇵 Konnichiwa from Japan, where our Upper School students had an unforgettable, action-packed adventure! From exploring temples and shrines to participating in a traditional tea ceremony, they immersed themselves in Japanese culture at every turn. They tried karate and drumming, cooked authentic dishes, explored the beautiful Hamarikyu Gardens, and experienced the world’s busiest crosswalk—Shibuya Crossing.
