Monday, April 8th, the maximum path of the solar eclipse for Charlotte, NC will occur around dismissal time for our high school and elementary schools, and around 3rd/4th block for Ranson IB. As exciting as it may be for students to view the eclipse, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of proper safety precautions. Viewing the eclipse without appropriate protection can cause severe damage to the eyes, even with the shortest exposure. Scholars will remain indoors during the instructional block and can experience this event through the NASA live streaming here - https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/live/. Do not look out of the windows and/or directly at the sun tomorrow – it will cause more damage than good. Please feel free to express what you have learned and how the event has impacted you through science journals, art projects, or class discussions. During dismissal, please head directly to your buses/cars and do not look directly at the sun. Please stay tuned for updates regarding athletic events.
