Most people probably assume that road salt advertised as "eco-friendly" is safe for the environment. According to the Washington Post, however, a new study demonstrates that both sodium chloride and calcium chloride (often advertised as "eco-friendly") can harm a species of zooplankton. The decline of this important food source for fish could affect the ecosystems of freshwater lakes and wetlands. If your K - 5th grader struggles with their reading, incentivize them by attending a free reading event where they will meet some fun, furry, and not so furry, new friends. 🐢

This judgment-free environment motivates kids to want to practice reading. It gives them more confidence and ultimately helps them become better readers.

The first raffle of the day is for a VIP Karate Package at Waldorf Martial Arts, Waldorf, MD. It includes an introductory private lesson, a uniform, and a month of group lessons.
