Calling all Pirate foodies! 🍕 Our September lunch menu is here, and there are a few fun things coming to the cafeteria this month! Smoothies are on the breakfast menu every Monday, everyone gets a cookie with lunch on September 4 to celebrate Ace’s birthday, and on September 17, students will have the option to try the new Pesto Chicken Flatbread! Screenshot the menu and see what your Pirate is looking forward to! 💙🏴‍☠️

Another Buddy Class meet & greet! 💙 Mrs. DeCamp’s 3rd graders spent some time getting to know Mrs. Hobbs’ kindergarteners, and the big kids even brought along a special book to read with their new buddies. We love seeing each of these buddy class pairings start to make their own special connections! These friendships are just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what they do together throughout the year!

A couple more CES buddy classes are getting to know each other! ❤️ Mrs. Wass’ 5th graders and Mrs. Wiles’ class shared a book and a snack with their buddies, while Mrs. Edmiston’s 1st graders welcomed Mr. Shaw’s 4th graders into their classroom for a meet & greet and some reading together! 📚 It’s pretty special watching our big Pirates model a love of reading while building friendships with our Little Pirates. These buddies will stick together all year, so there’s plenty more buddy fun to come! 🏴‍☠️

Charlestown Elementary Cross Country came out running tonight! Our boys took 1st place and our girls finished 2nd against New Washington in their very first meet of the season. We are so proud of these young Pirates and coaches Mrs. Tingle, Mrs. Tompkins, and Mrs. Roederer! Next up is the Regional Meet this Tuesday at Chapel Lake Park starting at 5 PM. Way to represent CES, Pirates!

Second grade is taking flight in STEM! ✈️ This week, Mrs. Andrea Thomas’ and Ms. Alyssa Newcomb’s classes put their science and engineering skills to work building Hoop Flyers while exploring drag, aerodynamics, and how design affects motion. Hands-on learning at its best in Mr. Daniel Dietrich STEM Lab! 🧪💡

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall… but first, he needed a pretty great wall! 🥚🧱

Mrs. Mari Hobbs’ kindergarteners have been learning a new nursery rhyme each day through Amplify, and yesterday’s rhyme turned into a little STEM fun! After learning about Humpty Dumpty, partners worked together to build a wall sturdy enough for their own Humpty to balance on.

Lots of building, problem-solving, teamwork, and some VERY proud kindergarten engineers at CES! 💙🏴‍☠️

One of the bonuses of being part of a BIG school? Class buddies! 🥰

Mrs. Alisha Briner’s 5th grade class and Ms. Alyssa Newcomb’s 2nd grade class got together for a class buddy meet & greet, complete with snacks, coloring, and plenty of time to get to know some new friends! We love seeing our older and younger Pirates connecting and making CES feel a little smaller. 💙

Looks like these buddy classes are already off to a great start! 🏴‍☠️
