Our last week before vacation, Barbie, Marlow’s grandmother, brought instruments and music to our program. What fun we had playing different instruments, parading and dancing with scarves.
Inside, the children’s seeds grew into sprouts and some formed their first leaves. They explored seeds and beans in the sensory table with some children pretending to grow plants. We had more picnics and decorated the coconut tree with letters. We read an alphabet mystery book and they decided to act out the story. Each child became a letter that had to find an object in our room “treasure” that started with their letter (just like in the story). The children also built more community structures with blocks and Legos.
Yesterday, Kerry and I witnessed two seals being released at Blue Shutters Beach.

The children continued to measure using frogs and some played number quantity games or alphabet bingo. They made some Easter mail for each other while others engaged in water play. All of the children learned about what seeds need to grow and then practiced planting seeds. The children role played being at a picnic near a coconut tree too!

At the end of March the children were starting to look for signs of spring outside. So, inside we learned more about bugs and birds in our community. Learning more about places in our communities, many children embraced the idea and used blocks to build ex. St Andrew Preschool & playground, fire and police stations and large cargo boats carrying vehicles. Some children role played with story figures The Palm Sunday and The Last Supper bible stories. Other children engaged in dressing up as family members or pretended to be Veterinarians taking care of animals. They worked on measuring with different tools on people and furniture or by scooping pink sand with cooking tools.

The children practiced playing instruments, dancing with scarves, building wood and magnatile structures, and role playing with doll house people or in a grocery store. They created shapes with salt dough, geoboards, tan grams, and designed shape pictures. Outside, the children fed the birds and took a sound walk in the woods.
