We celebrated 33 years of hard work from Mrs. Fisk last night at our faculty end of the year party at Gilligan's Restaurants. She impacted the hearts and minds of many. She will be greatly missed!

Thank you to Grace on the Ashley for providing lunch for our teachers today. It was a great way to celebrate the end of the school year!

We had the Mustang March today. Our fifth-grade students “marched” to Graduation and were cheered on by the Kindergarten through fourth-grade students. We wish them the best as they move on to middle school!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 5th and Thursday, June 6th are half-days. Bag lunches will be served. Dismissal begins at 11:30am.

Students in 3-1 worked on their end of the year project called Geometricity this week. They built a city using mathematical concepts they learned throughout the year.

Our first and second-grade students went on a field trip to the Charleston RiverDogs today. It was Education day at the Joe. It was a hot day but they found shade and creative ways to stay cool!

Friday was the last day of school for Child Development. They celebrated a wonderful school year by having an ice cream party.

Our final PBIS incentive this year was the Magic Story Artist, Yasu Ishida. He performed storytelling with the students and used origami in his stories. The students enjoyed this fun experience!

Monday, May 27th is Memorial Day. We will not have school. We will begin our Spirit Rallies when we return on Tuesday.

Here are a few more pictures from this morning. We were so glad to see all the moms that came and joined their students for breakfast!

We had a wonderful Morning with Moms today. The turn-out was incredible. River Church picked up the food, came and set it up this morning and volunteered throughout. Thank you so much!

Next week Child Development will begin screening for the 2019-2020 school year. Make sure to have your student registered by next week to be eligible for spring screening. A second round of screening will be done during the summer.

Hip Hip Hooray! Yesterday was Fun in the Sun day for our Child Development students. They celebrated their last week of school by moving their interest areas outside. Kindergarten HERE THEY COME!!!!

Today was our final day of field day. Our fourth and fifth grade classes competed. Thank you to all the parents and family members that came to cheer on our students this week!

SPIRIT RALLIES

We will begin our fourth nine weeks Spirit Rally next week. Students from each class will be recognized for citizens of the month and MAP/Fastbridge testing accomplishments. We hope to have many families join us for these awards!

Please stop by the front office to get a visitor's badge. The awards ceremonies are held in the multi-purpose room inside the Commons Building.

Our kindergarten students went on a field trip to Folly Beach County Park yesterday. They had beautiful weather and enjoyed experiencing the beach. Each class participated in "Secrets in the Sand", a class that taught them about animals that live in the sand. They also got the chance to touch the body of a jellyfish!

Our kindergarten and first-grade students competed in field day today. They all had a blast! Congratulations to all the students for doing their best!!

Our teachers and staff were treated many times this week for #TeacherAppreciation.

They received lunch from Moes, breakfast from Panera and a staff shirt from Administration. They received an Andolini's lunch and Springfield cup today filled with fast food coupons from PTA.

Our Kindergarten-3rd-grade students participated in a fresh fruit and vegetable lesson today. Carolina Produce came and taught our students about many kinds of fruits and vegetables. This is our provider of fruits and vegetables in our cafeteria.

They learned about superfoods like kiwi and broccoli. They found out that mango is the most eaten fruit in the world. They also learned a new way to peel their bananas.

Our students tried blood oranges, carrots, kumquats, mango, pineapple, radishes, sweet potatoes, turnips, and zucchini. They also got to try an edible orchid flower.

They had a great time trying new fruits and vegetables.

Our Springfield Expanded Learning Kaleidoscope staff brought trail mix for our teachers to enjoy today. Thank you for supporting our teachers and students each day!

Our 2018-2019 teacher of the year, Ms. Brittany Bendt, was joined by Mrs. Williams at the CCSD Teacher of the Year banquet last night. Congratulations, we are so proud of you for representing Springfield!

Our CD-2nd-grade students were treated to a performance of Little Red Riding Hood by the College of Charleston Opera Ensemble. Thank you to Charlene and Karl Bunch, grandparents of a student in Ms. Stone's first-grade class for funding this experience for our students!

Thank you to Hendrick Honda of Charleston for your support of our teachers at Springfield.

They brought Chickfila chicken biscuits for the teachers to enjoy for breakfast. What a great way to start their morning!
