We have a guest speaker coming tomorrow at 9:30 who is very knowledgeable about teen-age su***de and the resources to help. Unless your child is really really sick, please make sure they come to school. Any parents who would like to attend are welcome, as well. The su***de statistics are staggering, and nobody is immune. Hey, Parents, How’s the basket for the silent auction coming along? I’m just about ready to post a picture of the fishing basket I’m doing; it’s actually fun! And you need have been asked to select a themed basket by Friday, or we’ll select one for you … 100 percent involvement is what is needed.
Our spaghetti dinner/silent auction is right around the corner, and we need everyone’s participation! I cannot express in words how important this fundraiser is. I have 8 by 10 flyers available, and we need to put them up. Carter and I are going to sell tickets at the Tales and Trails event this weekend. I’ll have information about ticket sales soon.
Again, the primary focus now is on the baskets for the Silent Auction. If you have not selected a basket for the silent auction by Friday, we’ll select one for you. SometimesIf you have decided to do a basket that’s not on our list, please let us know. If you have any questions, please contact me.
And, a family whose son graduated from the Lighthouse a few years ago has volunteered to be in charge of the food. This will NOT be a sauce in a jar sauce, believe me.

Lighthouse Parents, Students, Staff, Friends, and Supporters:
Tomorrow (Monday) is the open house at the new school, 901 Lincoln Drive, South Charleston 25309.
There will be plenty of parking in the lot diagonally across from the school as well as parking in the school lot. There are just 15 or so parking spots at the school, and it would be courteous to spare those spaces for our elderly and handicapped friends.
The open house is 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and we’ll have light refreshments and drinks. An amazing amount of work has been done by an amazing group of parents and students. See you tomorrow!

We’re movin’ on up! Everything is on schedule for the Lighthouse of Learning to begin the new academic year. And we can still use some help moving and organizing (several of you have signed up to help this weekend)
There will be an open house at the new school location, 901 Lincoln Drive, South Charleston (just one mile from the Saint Paul location) on Monday, September 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 9; hours for the school day will be 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The school opens at 7:45 a.m. and closes at 4:30 p.m. (If you need special accommodations for the hours, please contact Judie as soon as you can.) Thanks for being a part of the Lighthouse!

If you or your friends have already found unhappiness or frustration at the beginning of the school year, please note: the Lighthouse of Learning has a few openings for students in grades 5 through 12. Reach out to see if this small (20-plus students), private, non-traditional school might better meet your child’s needs.

Students are welcome to come to the meeting this evening. New students, especially, might feel a little less anxious hearing about plans for the school year and the exciting activities ahead.

Please make plans to attend the parent meeting, whether in person at the current school or on Zoom, tomorrow at 6:00. We’ll send out the Zoom link a little betore the meeting is scheduled to start. Patti Johnston and Kim White have prepared the agenda for the meeting and have prepared the 2025-2026 academic calendar for distribution. Also, all of us - teachers, parents, and students - need to help in moving and in the transition to the new location. You’ll get all of the details tomorrow. Thanks!
