🦉🔬Whooo’s ready for some STEM learning?!

💡Did you know nocturnal animals are active at night for several reasons? Some need cooler temperatures to survive, others use the cover of darkness to stay safe from predators, and some avoid competing with other animals for food and resources!

Today, our students became scientists as we explored the fascinating world of owls with WVSU 4-H! Students dissected owl pellets and examined the tiny bones inside, using their observation and problem-solving skills to piece together the puzzle and identify what their owl had eaten.

A HUGE shoutout to WVSU 4-H for bringing this exciting learning experience to our students! Thank you for helping us turn curiosity into discovery! 💚

What does the perfect Wednesday in September look like? 🍂

For us, it looked like a field trip to Gritt's Farm! From hayrides and ziplines to visiting goats and exploring a barn full of corn, our families had a day packed with fun, laughter, and fall adventures🌽

We loved seeing our students and families making memories together and enjoying all that Gritt’s Farm has to offer❤️

Bee-lieve it or not… 🐝🍯STEM can be pretty sweet!

What do you get when you bring two really awesome programs together? A STEM Day all about honey bees! 🐝

Our students learned that honey bees are important pollinators and discovered that honey can have a variety of flavors depending on where the bees collect their nectar. Talk about a sweet science lesson🌸

And, of course, we had to put our taste buds to work! The fan favorite was Pacific Northwest Blackberry Blossom, while the Buckwheat Blossom had our kids all worked up with its bold, bitter taste😂

A huge THANK YOU to Eli Ghareeb from WVSU 4-H for bringing this lesson to life with such a fun, hands-on, and engaging activity. We're looking forward to next month as we learn more about nocturnal animals✨

We are proud to recognize Isaiah Melton, who was selected to attend the FBI Pittsburgh Division Teen Academy in Charleston, WV, on September 9! 👏

This was an incredible opportunity for Isaiah to learn more about the FBI, explore careers in law enforcement, and gain firsthand insight into the work of federal agents.

At Kanawha County Virtual, we believe every achievement is worth celebrating! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating the students in our program who were enrolled in the spring and performed at Mastery or Above on the GSA! 📚✨

These students showed up and showed off! 👏 Their dedication, perseverance, and hard work truly paid off and we couldn’t be more proud!

We know that learning can look different for everyone, and that’s one of the things we love most about our virtual program. Our students continue to prove that when you find what works for you and put in the effort, incredible things can happen! ✨
