Admissions - School of Medicine Greenville | University of South Carolina 08/25/2021

Admissions - School of Medicine Greenville | University of South Carolina

Attention Pre-Meds:
What to expect when applying to the UofSCSOM Greenville this year.

We are continuing our flexibility regarding our requirements for this 2021-2022 cycle. Some of the accommodations for this cycle include:
-We will be sending secondary applications to all students
-We will consider MCAT scores taken in January 2022
-We recognize that clinical experiences may still be difficult to obtain during this time

Feel free to check out our Admissions Page for more!
https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/medicine_greenville/admissions/index.php
Our interview day will be conducted virtually using the Cisco Webex Meetings platform. The interview day will run from about 10 am - 5pm. We will continue to have our Mini Multiple Interviews (MMI) virtually. Our clinical skills team has used this format for our student encounters with standardized patients with great success. We are excited to keep the MMI as part of our interview day. In addition to the MMI, the applicants will have a 50-minute traditional interview. We will communicate to students when inviting them to interview - providing them with an agenda and links for the day, sharing the AAMC best practices for virtual interviews, what to do if any technical difficulties arise, how to reach us on this day, etc. You are welcome to check out the details and schedule for our day on our Interview Day Page.

Out of an abundance of caution, we are still not hosting campus visits or tours. If you have a student wanting to learn more about our program or connect with a current student, please have them email me. We are scheduling virtual visits, if any student group is interested in hearing from our admissions office and current student – please have any interested groups contact me to plan this kind of session.

Our team has grown to include some wonderful new additions. Jameka Johnson joins our Admissions team as our new DEI Pathway Coordinator. We are also excited to welcome Star Jamison as our Student Affairs Manager, Essence Buckman as our Student Affairs Coordinator, and Miriam Klugh as our Administrative Coordinator.

Admissions - School of Medicine Greenville | University of South Carolina In an effort to accommodate a number of questions that are emerging due to the far-reaching effects of the COVID-19 pandemic we would like to inform our applicants that we continue to have increased flexibility regarding requirements for the 2021-2022 application cycle. We recognize that students ha...

Taking the MCAT® Exam

MCAT announcements

---
Dear Examinee,

If you are taking the MCAT in August or September, below are some important updates.

Masks required for all MCAT examinees

The AAMC’s testing partner, Pearson VUE, recently updated their mask requirements to align with state and local guidance where masks are not required indoors. Please note this change does not apply for MCAT examinees who are testing in Pearson VUE test centers. Masks are still required for all MCAT examinees. Given the spread of the Delta variant and the added protection masks provide, we will continue to require masks even in those jurisdictions that have lifted their mask requirements for indoor spaces. All other health and safety protocols remain in place at this time, including social distancing, available hand sanitizer, and cleaning before each test administration.

If you have questions, please contact us at [email protected] or visit our health and safety webpage.

MCAT Accommodations System enhancements

The MCAT Accommodations Application System has been upgraded with new features and functionality to offer a better user experience for MCAT examinees applying for accommodations. Please check out the new system and contact us with any questions or feedback at [email protected]. We are continuing to work on enhancements and resources to further improve the application process and look forward to sharing these with you when they are available.

Rescheduling and canceling exams

If you know you need to cancel or reschedule your MCAT exam, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. This will help examinees who are on waiting lists to secure an appointment. The Bronze Zone deadline is the last day for you to make changes to your exam online. Please keep in mind that MCAT seats do begin to fill up in some locations at the end of every testing year, so you are encouraged to reschedule your exam sooner rather than later.

If you have an urgent need to cancel your exam after the Bronze Zone deadline due to COVID-19, please follow the instructions outlined on the MCAT Registration and Scheduling in 2021 page.
