Welcome Ms. Jessica Phillips to our Mitchell family!
My name is Jessica Phillips and I am going to be teaching first grade at Mitchell this year. I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2018 and have been teaching in Columbia the past two years. I am from Charleston and I am so excited to be back home and to be joining the Mitchell family!
Just a reminder that we will be temporarily relocating beginning Monday, July 27th.
Today we are excited to welcome back Ms. Rouse!
We are excited to welcome back Mitchell’s librarian, Mrs. Kelly Burbage!
I am Mitchell’s librarian. Of course, I love reading, and I’ve been spending the last several months “quarantine crafting,” as I call it-making things for friends and family. I’ve also been weeding a 40-year old recipe collection, and trying lots of new dishes.
Let’s welcome another new staff member, Mrs. Jennifer James!
Hi everyone! I am new to Mitchell Elementary this year and I’m very excited to join your school family. I moved to South Carolina with my husband and our two dogs. This will be my sixth year teaching. I look forward to meeting everyone!
We want to welcome new staff member Mr. Kaleb Hayes! Mr. Hayes is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. He gained a love of education from his parents and all of the other educators he has had the pleasure to learn from and work alongside. He was drawn to music in middle school band playing the trumpet. Since then he has been doing it in any capacity that he could, and trying to spread the most joy and appreciation that he can. He is eagerly looking forward to joining the Mitchell family for his first year of teaching, and is excited to learn and grow with the Mitchell staff and students.
Hello! My name is Mary Kate Ward AKA Mrs. Ward and I’ve been at Mitchell for 12 years! I’ve taught 3rd grade, reading, and this year I get to teach 1st grade! I’m especially excited that my son gets to come to Mitchell next year and I can’t wait to meet my new 1st graders. This summer I have spent a lot of time at the beach and out on the boat with my family. I can’t wait for school to start again!
Say hello to returning teacher, Mr. Chak Or!
My name is Chak Or and I am from Spartanburg, South Carolina. I am a 2nd grade teacher at Mitchell. I was the 2019 Rookie Teacher of the Year at our school. A fun fact about me is that I am a first generation American, also the first in my family to attend college! I love going to the beach, eating sushi, and running to the battery. Two thumbs up for another amazing adventure at our awesome school!
Hello Mitchell Families!! My name is Ms. Amber Sainz and I’m the new Principal at Mitchell Elementary. I’m so excited to be here and I can’t wait to meet all of our families!
I grew up in Missouri and have always loved South Carolina and Charleston. I’m starting my 21st year in education. I have two boys Gabe and Joshua. I love being outdoors and running!
Over the next few weeks we will be introducing the staff at Mitchell Elementary School, so stay tuned!
