Dr. Walt Uber, a Fall 2023 participant of our Prostate Cancer Survivors Strength Camp, has a great testimonial about our clinical exercise program.

"I was able to meet a group of guys who could identify and understand what I was going through and remind me that I was not alone in this fight against prostate cancer. I was motivated upon entering the program, but these guys instilled in me the additional drive to improve as a group. We pushed each other through the program and, I believe, to achievements higher than we could achieve alone. Lee, Steve, Dave, and Chris will always be my brothers for life. I thank Cindi and her team so much for the opportunity to participate in this program and would recommend it to anyone."

Meet Marie Corbin, our all-new Friday noon instructor for Les Mills BODYPUMP and cycling substitute instructor!

Marie is originally from Isle of Palms, and has also lived in Florida before being called back to Charleston. She attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, specializing in journalism and public relations. She's also completed graduate classes at Liberty University in the area of Clinical Counseling.

As a big fan of group fitness classes, Marie certainly has a competitive side, which is why working out in a group setting keeps her motivated while also having fun. She's been a group exercise instructor for three years and holds certifications in cycling and Les Mills BODYPUMP. In her Friday BODYPUMP class, members can expect a full body workout with tracks dedicated to each muscle group, using barbells, hand weights and body weight.

"I love to encourage, and my coaching style revolves around having fun while getting pushed past your comfort zone when appropriate."

When she's not at work, Marie stays busy as the mother of three, active children. Her family loves outdoor adventures like boating, fossil hunting, baseball and hanging out with friends. Be sure to say hi if you spot her around the facility or join one of her classes!

Meet Abby Ramsey, our all-new Member Services and Business Program Manager!

Abby is originally from Shelby, North Carolina, and moved to Charleston shortly over a month ago. She graduated from NC State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. In her new role at the Wellness Center, she will be involved with everything relating to memberships.

Prior to the Wellness Center, she worked as a Facility Supervisor for two years at the NC State Wellness and Recreation Center. She's also a certified Health Coach, and has worked as a coach at NC State for students, faculty and staff for one year.

She grew interested in this role because of her love for working in a university setting and in the health and wellness world. One thing she's excited about is flexing her creative muscles to create membership promotions and events in addition to getting to know our members.

When she's not at work or solving membership questions, Abby loves to be outside in the sun, whether that's at the beach, in a pool, at a lake, or on walking trails. She also love to crochet and play trivia with her boyfriend. If you see Abby around the facility, be sure to say hi!

We are seeking a marketing intern for the Fall 2024 semester. If you're on the fence about applying, listen to this testimonial by Sarah Baer, who herself interned with our marketing director this summer.

"The MUSC Wellness Center marketing internship furthered my goals as political science (pre-med) major. Not only was I able to advocate for the clinical programs at the Wellness Center, but I was given the agency to plan and execute my promotional strategies. As someone with little marketing experience, this internship built upon my communication and leadership skills within a healthcare setting. This internship has required me to be a creative self-starter and has taught me skills that I believe are invaluable within any public health or business setting!"

Apply online now at https://ow.ly/keyO50SBNHE.

08/13/2024
