Earlier this month our Veteran and Active Duty students who achieved academic success as Gold Star Recipients were recognized at parade. This is the first time in recent history Veteran and Active Duty students have been honored at parade. We are so proud of our students and thankful for everyone who made this happen! 🥳⭐️
Last week, students involved in our Veterans Mentorship Program joined their mentors and leadership from our Corps of Cadets to hear Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning sports broadcaster Debbie Antonelli speak about her experiences and motivations for driving change in several areas including the Special Olympics!
We are excited to cheer on our Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday, September 30, at our Family Weekend Tailgate! Join the fun and stop by the Holliday Alumni Center courtyard closest to campus for all the fun. We will be there from 12 PM until the game starts at 2 PM. 🏈🐾

In August the VSSC was proud to launch a new orientation and transition program aimed at helping new Veteran and Active Duty students transition from the military to academic life as well as acclimate successfully to campus and life as a Citadel Bulldog. Students were joined by representatives from student service offices across campus, as well as learned about resources and tools to help succeed this school year!

Impact X for Vets kicks off next week! If you are interested in leading change by forming startups that make a profit while solving social and/or environmental challenges this course is for you. The Citadel will move classes to an online, synchronous format on Wednesday, August 30. Cadets and students will attend their classes remotely at their regularly scheduled time; log onto Canvas for specific instructions. Administrative offices will be closed as well. Today's Student Resource Highlight is the Daniel Library - The Citadel! Talk about a resource, The Daniel Library has research tools, a ton of technology including a 3D printer, services like interlibrary loans and study spaces galore! Visit them on campus or online at library.citadel.edu.

A quick reminder, as you gear up to return to campus, Active Duty students in a commissioning day program will wear the uniform prescribed by their respective ROTC directives. In keeping with the day program's uniform nature.
Veteran students are expected to dress appropriately in business casual attire when attending classes with the Corps of Cadets.
If you are in need of a few new clothing pieces don't forget we have a business attire closet filled with gently used business-appropriate clothing free to all Veteran and Active Duty students, please take whatever you need!
The Veteran Student Success Center is looking for a work study! Undergraduate students can make $12/hour ($15 for graduate students) helping our team collect mail, assist with event planning and social media as well as other administrative tasks. Today on Purple Heart Day we remember and honor the bravery of our Alumni who were wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving in the U.S. military defending and protecting our country.
The Citadel has several computer labs located on campus including in Bond Hall rooms 251, 252, 256, and 262 as well as Thompson Hall rooms 215 and 220. For labs dedicated to your major check with your college or department. The VSSC also has a small computer lab, as well as loaner laptops which are available on an as-needed basis and can be checked out at 204 Richardson Ave.

To continue empowering tomorrow’s leaders, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) and Student Veterans of America (SVA) will once again host the 2023/2024 VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship, providing exemplary student veterans the opportunity to make their voices heard on Capitol Hill and in their community.
The 2023/2024 VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship program is scheduled from October 2023 to March 2024. Chosen Fellows will work with VFW and SVA staff on a shared policy priority. Fellows will travel to NATCON 2024 in January and the 2024 VFW National Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. in March. During the VFW event, they will engage with Congress members, educating them on the challenges faced by today’s veterans.
