We are excited to announce our final superheroes of the school year! Eli and Ja’Veah have been selected as superheroes who demonstrate the value of excellence. Both of these super scholars have demonstrated growth academically and as leaders in our school community! Eli and Ja’Veah serve as examples for their peers of what excellence looks like in action. Our scholars are presenting their projects on goods and services in South Carolina! One of our scholars shared a watermelon with his class as an example of a local good sold in South Carolina.

Our founder Octavia Edwards visited Compass Collegiate Academy. The children were very engaged and told Octavia their mission and values (Scholars, Team, Excellence, Effort, Respect, Anti-Racism, Inclusion). Their theme for the month is Super Hereos. Octavia join the little ones and did her Super Hero pose🦸🏾‍♀️! Education Empowerment and Engaging with our youth is our PASSION ❤ Thank you Elizabeth for inviting us. Our founder enjoyed her visit and we all are looking forward to supporting Compass Collegiate Academy.

Happy teacher appreciation week! Today we are highlighting Ms. Pointer! Did you know our social studies curriculum is intentionally designed for our scholars by Ms. Pointer? She has brought the world into our school community! Our scholars are deeply connected to our social studies curriculum because of how Ms. Pointer has crafted it to meet the needs and interests of our scholars. Ms. Pointer has also been instrumental in bringing many experiences to our scholars. Ms. Pointer is always making connections to expand our school community! We have experienced many field trips and have had many visitors join our school community due to the efforts of Ms. Pointer! Our scholars enjoy working with Ms. Pointer because of the way she demonstrates patience, understanding, and love. Thank you, Ms. Pointer! 🍎

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Today we are highlighting Ms. Jones and her wonderful classroom of first grade scholars. Ms. Jones can always make her scholars laugh! She is known to balance rigorous instruction with humor, which leads to big smiles and a lot of learning! Ms. Jones provides her scholars with many opportunities to work collaboratively. This creates exciting classroom dialogue and supports scholars in building relationships with one another. Ms. Jones has always highlighted the importance of team. She continually reminds her scholar of how they can work together to achieve their goals! This class loves to celebrate their achievements and is always ready to support anyone in our school community thanks to the guidance of Ms. Jones! Thank you, Ms. Jones! 🍎

Happy Teacher Appreciation week! Today we are highlighting Ms. Tegtmeyer! Ms. Tegtmeyer’s scholars always say she gives the best hugs! Something extra special about Ms. Tegtmeyer is the way she makes every experience personal to her scholars. From welcoming her scholars in the morning to personalized instruction to celebrations, Ms. Tegtmeyer is always making each moment memorable. In her classroom scholars are setting goals and working as a team to plan to meet their goals. Ms. Tegtmeyer has created a classroom community of scholars who love to cheer each other on, celebrate their accomplishments, and are always willing to support their friends. This class also loves to create fun handshakes and dance with each other! Thank you, Ms. Tegtmeyer! 🍎

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Today, we will highlight Ms. Williams! If you hear music playing, scholars laughing, and enthusiastic cheering then you have found Ms. Williams and her scholars! As soon as you enter her classroom you can feel the joy and love that is created each day through the actions of Ms. Williams. You will also catch some awesome dance moves because they love to dance! We are grateful to have Ms. Williams on our team! She is not only a dynamic teacher, she is someone who centers her teaching around imagination and creativity! Her scholars will forever remember their kindergarten year because of the way she makes each day special! Thank you, Ms. Williams! 🍎

Throwback Thursday! We are excited to introduce our March superheroes! Ra’Quell, Nevaeh, and Mah’jor have been selected as scholars who demonstrate our core value of Team! They help bring our community together and remind us of how much we can accomplish when we work together!

We started off our week by going to the aquarium with our kindergarten scholars! We learned all about habitats during our instructional session with the aquarium staff. We also enjoyed being able to touch different animals and have lunch together outside!

Throwback Thursday! We are proud to share our February superheroes! Charlie, Devyn, and Porter are scholars who demonstrate our core value of Anti-Racism! We are appreciative of the way they display leadership through being community oriented and reflective! They are wonderful community builders in their classrooms!

Our scholars bring learning into our classrooms! Kindergarten scholar Brooks brought in a nest he found this weekend. His class was thrilled to examine the nest and share what they noticed and wondered! There were many questions about what lived in the nest and what it is made of. Our scholars also made many connections to what they have learned about habitats in their discussion.

Our scholars are painting river rocks after getting inspiration from our garden today at Green Heart Project.
