Excellent teachers deserve to be celebrated. 💙👏

We’re so proud to celebrate 𝗠𝘀. 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘀. 𝗞𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆, who were recently recognized through the Excellence in Teaching Awards for the outstanding academic growth of their scholars!

The Excellence in Teaching Awards recognize and financially reward educators whose scholars demonstrate exceptional growth. Teachers are eligible when their students achieve at least 1.25 years of academic growth or 25% more growth than expected as measured by i-Ready.

We’re incredibly proud to see Ms. Holland and Ms. Kelly recognized and compensated for the impact they’ve made in the classroom!

And while their awards are well deserved, scholar growth at Compass is truly a 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁. Classroom teachers, small-group leaders, interventionists and so many others work together every day to meet scholars where they are, help move the needle and keep them growing.

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗿𝘁.

Inspired by Eric Carle’s 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙞𝙣𝙮 𝙎𝙚𝙚𝙙, our K–6 scholars worked together to bring the story’s journey to life, with each grade contributing a different piece to this school-wide mural!

🌱 Kindergarten created the seeds
☀️ 1st Grade created the sun
⛰️ 2nd Grade created the mountains
🌊 3rd Grade created the ocean and sky
🌎 4th Grade created the soil
🌿 5th Grade created the vines and leaves
🌸 6th Grade created the flower, animals and insects

A huge shoutout to our fabulous Ms. Breyne for dreaming up and executing this beautiful project, and to every Compass scholar who helped bring it to life! 💙

During his visit, Superintendent Neeley had the opportunity to spend time on campus and see our Compass community in action: stepping into classrooms, seeing our scholars engaged in their learning, and getting a glimpse of the relationships our teachers build with scholars every day.

From focused classroom learning to the energy and curiosity our scholars bring to their school day, we loved having the opportunity to share what learning looks and feels like at Compass.

As a school authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District, we’re grateful for opportunities to connect with our district partners and welcome them into our school community.

Exciting news for Compass!

We’re incredibly grateful to the ATI Foundation for awarding Compass Collegiate Academy a $30,000 grant to support career awareness, leadership development, entrepreneurship, field experiences and workplace visits for our K–6 scholars.

Opportunities like these help our scholars connect what they’re learning today with the possibilities ahead of them and we’re so excited for what this partnership will make possible.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀. 🌊🧭

Last week, our Kindergarten–4th Grade scholars took learning out on the water with Coastal Expeditions, traveling by boat to Drum Island and getting an up-close look at the Lowcountry ecosystem we call home.

Field trips like this are so much more than a day away from the classroom. They give scholars the opportunity to see, touch and experience what they’re learning, ask new questions, make connections to the world around them and build memories alongside their classmates.

A big thank you to Coastal Expeditions for giving our scholars the opportunity to explore their own backyard and experience the Lowcountry in a whole new way!

Because belonging also means knowing your community is there when you need it. 💙

We’re grateful to partner with Lowcountry Orphan Relief to bring a Just in Case Closet to CCA, an on-site resource stocked with clothing and everyday essentials to help meet scholars’ immediate needs.

A special thank you to Ground Swell Capital, whose generous support made our closet possible, and to Lowcountry Orphan Relief for helping us bring this resource to our school community.

The Just in Case Closet is designed to grow with the support of our community, too. As specific needs arise, we’ll share ways our Compass families and community partners can help us keep it stocked and ready for our scholars.

Sometimes the things that help a scholar feel ready to learn have nothing to do with what’s in a textbook. We’re grateful for another way to make sure our scholars feel supported, cared for, and ready for the day ahead. 💙🧭

Four weeks in. 💙

The routines are taking shape. Classrooms are buzzing. Friendships are growing. Hands are going up. Teachers are leaning in. And little by little, a new school year is starting to feel like home!

These are the moments that make up a day at Compass...learning, laughing, asking questions, working together, and growing along the way.

A new school year brings new classrooms, new routines and new opportunities to find your place. 💙

And for our families, that sense of belonging matters.

One Compass parent shared that what stood out most wasn’t just how her son would learn here, it was how he would feel here. Known. Welcomed. Part of a community.

As our scholars settle into a new year, that’s the kind of goodness we love seeing take shape every day: relationships growing, confidence building and scholars discovering that this is a place where they belong!

One week from today...our halls will be full again. 💙

Behind the scenes, our teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing classrooms, learning together, and getting everything ready to welcome our scholars back.

This school year will bring familiar faces, new faces, fresh beginnings, and countless opportunities to learn and grow together. We can't wait for our Compass community to come back together.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. 📚

This past week, our faculty had the privilege of learning from 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 as we explored Gullah Geechee language and culture and the important role language plays in identity, connection, and learning.

Her presentation invited us to think more deeply about the power of language and the important role it plays in shaping identity, fostering connection, and supporting meaningful learning for every scholar.

As we prepare to welcome our scholars back, we're grateful for opportunities like this that help us continue growing as educators and creating classrooms where every child feels seen, valued, and supported.
