UPDATE ON SCHOOL OPERATIONS FOR MONDAY:
Please know that we regret the lack of timeliness in regards to this notification. We have been assessing conditions throughout the weekend and all day today hoping to be able to resume normal operations for Monday. However, we had to make a last-minute decision to operate on a 2-hour delay for students tomorrow. We know that this creates challenges, and we apologize. Please see the below message.
-------
Charleston County School District schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students on Monday, January 27, 2025. All administrators, teachers, and staff members are expected to report at their regularly scheduled time to ensure preparations for a safe start to the school day; employee concerns about reporting times should be directed to supervisors.
Safety remains our top priority, and we urge everyone to exercise caution while traveling. While our Facilities Management team has been working throughout the weekend to clear snow and ice from our campuses, today’s mid and late afternoon reassessments have suggested that some icy spots still remain–prompting this two-hour delay, primarily to allow for increased daylight and visibility for students.
Please drive slowly and carefully, and be mindful of icy spots in parking lots and on walkways when arriving at school or work. Students walking to school or to bus stops should exercise extreme caution and be on the lookout for lingering snow and ice.
To reduce the risk of slips and falls, please wear appropriate footwear with sturdy soles and good traction. High heels, sandals, or shoes with smooth soles should be avoided, as they may increase the risk of slipping on icy surfaces. We also recommend dressing warmly to stay comfortable in the cold.
Again, safety is our top priority. We thank you for taking these
precautions to ensure a safe, smooth start to the day.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow!
CCSMS will have an elearning day on Friday along with CCSD. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CxJCt7f1k/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Due to icy road conditions and freezing temperatures expected overnight, we will continue eLearning and remote work on Friday, January 24, 2025. This includes the cancellation of all after-school and evening activities.
Students will participate in eLearning on Friday, and their teachers or schools will provide the necessary guidance and resources for a successful day. If you experience any technical difficulties, please contact the IT Help Desk at (843) 308-8181 for assistance.
It’s important to note that the state allows up to five eLearning days per school year, and this will exhaust those allowable days. Any additional days off due to weather or emergencies would need to be made up on the designated makeup days in the academic calendar.
We recognize that this situation may create challenges for our families, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience; however, please note that the safety of students and staff is of utmost importance. We continue to closely monitor conditions and will provide updates regarding any changes to weekend events as soon as possible.
Again, thank you for your patience and please stay safe!
