A fourth year College of Charleston student is currently producing and curating The Art of Survival, an art exhibit which will showcase multi-media creations by survivors of sexual assault and rape who attend The College of Charleston. This exhibit is looking for submissions from survivors of sexual assault and rape here at the College of Charleston.
The goal of this exhibit is to provide survivors with a positive, encouraging platform to express and share their emotions, experiences, reactions to their experiences, and healing processes with each other and their community. Through celebration of the creations of survivors, this exhibit will show that The College genuinely cares about its students, especially those who are survivors. It will show that rape effects absolutely everyone and it will promote and encourage the public discussion that fails to happen often enough. This show will further increase the awareness that rape and sexual assault happens to so many of us --that it has to stop.
The submissions are due by March 14th. The Art of Survival will open Monday, April 11th and will close on Friday, April 15th. This exhibition will be in Theatre 220, located on the second floor of The Simons Center for the Arts. Hope to see you all there!
Good morning everyone!
