Engineering Design students put their skills to the test in a bridge building competition. Congrats to Travis Mitchell for building a bridge that was cost effective and sustainable.

Students in Dean Fulford’s Engineering Design class (EGR-269) were given the task of constructing a bridge out of popsicle sticks, sustainable enough to hold various amounts of weight. They were given 100 popsicle sticks with each stick representing $10, the students also had to remember to be cost effective.
Much like real-life experiences, the students were given a time frame of 2 hours to complete the construction of their bridge with no prior notice. This competition displayed the student’s ability to act and think in the moment to produce the best cost-effective solution possible.
Congratulations to Travis Mitchell for winning the Engineering Design Competition! His bridge was able to hold a total of 12.5lbs!
Job Well Done to all students for their hard work!

Broomstick Challenge Debunked 😀
Physics and Astronomy Instructor Gary Heaton on the Broomstick Challenge: "A planetary alignment is NOT the cause. You can balance a broom any day of the year. Just press down so the bristles spread out a little. There’s no special days for balancing eggs either. Those just take more patience than brooms."

What a fun class!

Only "despicable" if you don't take this crazily fun specialty cake class.
