Nature writing illuminates our place within the ecological system and encourages us to appreciate, protect, and find meaning in the world around us.
“If there is poetry in my book about the sea, it is not because I deliberately put it there, but because no one could write truthfully about the sea and leave out the poetry,” says Rachel Carson, American marine biologist and conservationist (1907-1964)

“I write because I have to. I can’t tell myself that I’m doing something to elicit the reader’s enjoyment—that would be almost obscene to me.”

A writing consultant is the best resource for helping high school students navigate the complexities and ever changing classroom culture of using AI tools in their writing process.
Here's how:
1. A writing consultant helps students understand the ethical implications of using AI, such as plagiarism, maintaining academic integrity, and learning appropriate citations for all AI-generated content.
2. Consultants help students understand the difference between using AI as a tool to enhance their work and relying on it to generate content for them.
3. Consultants guide students in critically evaluating AI-generated text, identifying potential biases, and cross-referencing information with reliable sources.
4. A trained writing consultant can also help students understand the limitations of AI and the importance of human intuition and judgment in writing.
5. Consultants teach young writers how to use AI tools effectively to support various stages of the writing process, such as brainstorming ideas, outlining, drafting, and revising.
6. Consultants help student writers develop their own unique voice and style in their writing, even when incorporating AI tools.
7. Consultants emphasize the importance of making intentional stylistic choices and maintaining ownership of their work, ensuring that AI doesn't dilute their personal expression.
8. Consultants can keep students informed about evolving AI policies nationally.
9. Consultants know the guidelines set by the student’s educational institutions and other organizations.
10. Consultants encourage students to be responsible digital citizens when using AI tools, emphasizing the importance of privacy, data security, and respectful online interactions.
