✨ Alumni Feature: Jennifer Asouzu ‘18 ✨
Meet Jenn, a major alumna. A Class of 2018 graduate, she now works for University of South Carolina as a Marketing Coordinator and just graduated again this past May with her master’s. 🎓 Way to go, Jenn!! Read more about Jenn’s College of Charleston and post-undergrad journey below. ⬇️
{repost from Jenn's Instagram account, } Some more about me. 💭 I already said I live + work in , but I grew up here as well! I come from a big Nigerian American family where I am the youngest of four siblings. 🇳🇬 I graduated from the College of Charleston] in 2018 with a B.A. in Communication + Theatre-Performance. Those were some of the best years of my life! My studies focused on interpersonal comm/PR/directing + my extracurriculars focused on College of Charleston New Student Orientation, Higdon Center, and Lambda Omicron Deltas. 🐘 I was two months short of crossing the Cistern Yard when I realized I wanted to work in . In my personal experience, it was difficult to find a job in the field right away because I didn’t have a master’s degree. Four days before graduation, I landed a great gig at Stevens & Wilkinson as their Marketing Assistant where I worked with Shayla Merritt + learned about corporate marketing. 📝 I began my M.Ed. program at UofSC a year later where I found my interests in DEI, the first year experience + university marketing. I loved S&W, but all good things must come to an end. I was eventually offered the position of Marketing Coordinator with University of South Carolina Office of New Student Orientation + started the same day everything shut down due to COVID. 🥺 Remote work was the move. I worked FT/was a FT student (whew!) + was able to graduate in May 2021! 👩🏾🎓 And now I am here. God is so good. In my free time I enjoy baking 🍪 + am currently attempting to learn how to play tennis from my dad. 🎾
