Your Yoga mat is your mirror.

When you get deep enough into the practice you start to hear yourself from a new lens.

You notice how you speak to yourself - about yourself, about the person next to you, about the pose.

All your habits and beliefs reveal themselves to you.

And it doesn’t matter how impressive your Asana practice, the real work must be faced from within. Asana = the physical postures of Yoga.

Here’s a little secret. You can have a truly impressive asana practice and still be a jerk.

I used to step on to my mat and think to myself, “prepare to be amazed.” But outside of the mat I was making huge mistakes and hurting people I loved.

The physical practice is NOT the end goal.

It is the tool to show you who you are and help you work through all the trauma and story so you can excavate the most beautiful parts of yourself.

Yoga is about feeling the tiny little muscles in your arms and having a deep conversation with them.

It is about wanting to run with every fiber of your being and choosing to stay for one more breathe.

Yoga is about discipline.

The discipline of your thoughts, your impulses, your habits.

And it is through this discipline that you create the ultimate freedom.

To not be afraid to feel deeply and thoroughly.

To know that you can experience great emotion and remain tethered to your values.

To love yourself in all your forms.

To understand yourself on the level of the Soul so no one else’s opinion will matter because YOU know who YOU are.

To see the oneness of all beings and love them like you love yourself.

To control your breathe is to control your life.

And it all starts with you.
