We are a few days late with our announcement, but we hope you’ll excuse us as we were celebrating all our Pre-K graduates last week. We are so happy to introduce are entire CCA family to our new Director, Mrs. Andrea Kitchens. Below you can read a little about her, her ex professional experience and her family. We are so happy to have you!!

Hi CCA families! My name is Andrea Kitchens, and I am excited to join the team as the Director of Cainhoy Children's Academy. Prior to joining CCA, I worked as part of the Education Team for the Sunshine House, coaching teachers and supporting admin at all the Low Country schools. From 2018-2022, I was the Director of Archway Academy in Summerville. My husband and I have been married for eighteen years and we have three children, Riley (16), Colbie (11), and Presley (8). I am eager to begin building relationships with all the children, families, and staff. I believe that connection is the basis for success in early childhood education. From that connection, bonds are formed, and learning and development can begin.

Discovering Taste

This week our Dolphins are exploring their sense of “Taste.” In this project, taste is represented by viewing the tongue under a microscope. The students were first introduced to the tool via a picture and a handheld pocket microscope.

They were shown an image of a magnified tongue to better understand how a microscope works. The children then recreated the image using various materials such as bubble wrap, q-tips, corks, and paint to print onto their paper.
