We can't tell who was most excited for Meet the Teacher—parents, therapy, nursing, admin, teacher assistants, teachers, or the students themselves! The laughter and conversations echoing through the halls this afternoon said it all. We cannot wait for our 2026-2027 Charter School Year to start back up on Tuesday!

Every student at Pattison's Academy learns and grows in their own unique way, which means our classrooms need all kinds of different supplies to meet each child's needs. Our teachers work so hard to make that happen every single day, and we wanted to make it a little easier for our community to help.

Cool Ray skated into our 20th Summer Camp, and our campers were hooked from the start!

The South Carolina Stingrays' beloved mascot has been visiting Pattison's Academy for more than a decade, joining our campers for adapted hockey year after year. This time, our kiddos proved they're not afraid to celebrate a challenge.

Thank you, Stingrays, for making a splash at Summer Camp for over ten years. Our campers, as always, had a reel good time!

Piglets, Snakes, and Tegus—oh my!

All Thing Acre came back for another unforgettable visit, sharing their two-, four-, and no-legged friends with us at Summer Camp! From the sounds of the animals and reptiles to the textures of coats, skin, and feathers, every camper's senses were in overdrive. And honestly? Many of our kiddos were braver than some of our admin and counselors!

As we continue to celebrate our 20th year of Summer Camp, it's days like the petting zoo visit that remind us how much fun it is to be part of a community that believes in our children.

From Fine Motor Skill activities and Art Therapy to one of our favorite visits from the Artist Guild, creativity has been in full swing at Camp! Arts and crafts give our campers a powerful way to express themselves. Whether they're using their speech devices, the power of their eyes, or the movement of their hands, they make their own decisions. By choosing colors, favorite characters, or activities, they get to watch their ideas come to life. Their creativity is endless when they're given the time and ability to show it!

Celebrating Camp Kindness Day: A community member happened upon one of our field trips at OutSlide In and felt compelled to reach out through our website with some Kudos for our campers. Messages like this mean the world to us.
At our core, we want every child in our programs to have a camp experience like any other kid. It may not always look identical, but children with disabilities can, and should, get to experience the full joy of childhood.

Happy Camp Counselor Appreciation Day!
Established by the Sunrise Association, this day honors the dedicated young professionals who bring joy, hope, and magic to children at summer camps everywhere.
Here at Pattison's Academy, our counselors go above and beyond. Serving children with moderate to severe disabilities means every high-five, every song, every moment on the adapted courts or dance floor takes patience, skill, and heart. Our counselors aren't just there for the fun, they're essential to keeping our campers safe, supported, and celebrated every single day.
Our counselors show up fully for every camper, every time, unlocking potential in our campers while empowering the families who trust us with their care. Together, they create countless special moments this summer.

The heat is on at Summer Camp, and we've been trying to keep cool with our camper activities! Each year, we take over the Stingrays' official practice location and break away from expectations for a bit. With the help of some skate rentals, PVC skate trainers, and some excited camp counselors, wheelchairs, strollers, and shoes were moving at lightning speed on the ice! We are so thankful to have community partners like the Carolina Ice Palace who allow our campers to truly be kids.
