Today Ms. Kyra’s class hosted Pattison’s Academy’s very first book fair. We are so thankful for Books and Beyond for their generosity. They are a amazing nonprofit here in Charleston who host free pop up book events. Our students utilized speech devices to communicate with each class as they came to the book fair. Emmalea’s (Gooz) Mom:
Pattison’s Academy has been such a blessing for Emma (Gooz) and our family. The staff at Pattison’s sees Gooz beyond her disability and sees her potential and who she is. They are constantly pushing her to do bigger things such as her running Goozers Breakfast Delivery Service as her school job. She has thrived in the educational and therapeutic model that Pattison’s created. To know your child when she is dropped off is being taken care of physically, emotionally and educationally provides such a peace of mind that words can never express how thankful we are for Pattison’s.

Dahlia’s Mom: “Pattison's Academy is the quintessential experience for a family with a child with disabilities. Every aspect of Dahlia's educational, therapeutic, and social needs are met. She has reached milestones I was told weren't possible and is in an environment that pushes her to move up to the next level. All this from staff that loves her like she was their own child. Our bond as a family unit is so much stronger because we know Dahlia is in a safe environment that challenges her and the time we spend together is quality time.”

Student Spotlight: Jasmine
From Jasmine’s Mom: “We love how the program integrates multi-faceted levels of pediatric therapeutic services and functional rehabilitation to its educational curricula, which has made a significant impact on Jasmine's quality of life. The multi-faceted levels of therapy and rehab allowed our daughter to accomplish small tasks like following verbal commands, walking in a gate trainer, trying to feed herself, etc. that others made us feel would never be possible. She slept through the night for the 1st time in 5 years after becoming a student at PACE and still rests at night. PACE changed her/our lives forever.”

The students revitalized the gardens with flowers, herbs and vegetables today after cleaning out weeds last week! With the help from Green Gorilla Land Management, Pattison's Academy Students will be able to grow produce to cook and enjoy using for sensory activities. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, from your friends at Pattison’s!
Pattison’s Academy was launched in September 2005 by four women — a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, an educator, and the mother of a child with disabilities — with a mission to improve the quality of life for children with severe disabilities across our Charleston community. The premise was simple, yet powerful: Through an array of services including education, therapy, and early intervention, families and professionals would work together to maximize the potential of children with a range of physical and cognitive challenges. The promise of this organization, particularly its ability to effectively serve children with multiple, complex disabilities, was enormous.
From the humble beginnings of a summer camp that started in 2006, serving 14 children, Pattison’s has grown into a multi-faceted service organization that serves over 125 children each year with quality programming delivered throughout Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Thanks to our partnership with the Charleston County School District, we today operate the only K-12 public charter school in South Carolina that serves exclusively children with severe disabilities.
