🌾 Section 20 Land Use 🌱

Yesterday we participated in the Section 20 Land Use contest. It was the perfect day for a fun, hands on judging contest. We looked at, felt, and evaluated soil. Charleston placed 5th as a team.

Thank you to the Homann family for letting Charleston FFA host! Andy Brantner, who works for Coles County soil and water, was our judge for the contest, along with Scott Wiesbrook from U of I. We wouldn't have been able to set this up without your help!!

This week in FFA! Charleston had a busy but fun week starting with LTS on Monday where we enjoyed leadership activities and got to meet other members from Section 20 as well as previous section officers. Our first monthly meeting was on Tuesday where we were joined by State President Bryer Nelson, Section President Gage Lockhart, and Section Reporter Mallory Homann who arrived with some fun activities along with goal setting and recognizing our legacies. We hopped in the Homecoming parade on Wednesday and threw candy from a hay-bale float. We wrapped up on Thursday with the Section 20 Horse Judging contest where we looked at 6 different classes of horses. Safe to say, after a long week, Charleston FFA has had so much fun with the opportunities that have come our way, thank you to all who joined us and made these 4 days as exciting as they were!
