Back in beautiful...and lively...Ritter Park in Huntington to film the opening and closing stand-ups for the upcoming feature The Murder of Juliette Enslow. Absolutely gorgeous day. Unfortunately, the rest of Huntington apparently felt the same and came out in droves. Meant a couple of extra takes on account of some noises...BUT...everything turned out just fine. Hope to have this last "Ingredient" edited into the completed feature VERY soon. Cheers!

UPDATE: 18 minutes are now edited. The main feature runs approximately 35 so...moving right along. NOW...however...it's time to breath life into the 35mm stills I took to augment the rest of the original film. Yes...I can actually develop 35mm color film. The process has gotten SOOO much easier over the last 20 years it's incredible. Once developed they just need scanned...no 4x5 "doulbes"...lol...and presto! Genuine film images! Ok...time to inhale some chemicals. 😁

EDITING: Firstly 10 minutes down. That makes about 25%. Coming together nicely. My 2 reels of B/W Super 8 film became available today and the effect is absolutely surreal. 😁

FIELD FOOTAGE: Video of the 1936 crime scene filmed in Huntington on August 24th. Just a simple 180 degree pan from the POV of the lot where the "murder house" stood until 1977.

IN TNE FIELD: Ah, mother nature and my day schedule finally cooperated enough for me to get to Huntington for on-site filming of the upcoming feature. Once again you see here my Super 8mm film movie camera on the site of a 1936 homicide. In addition to this and the usual digital fare I was once more shooting with both color and B/W 35mm film for optimal "period feel." Here's hoping everything keeps coming together. Cheers!

IN THE FIELD (On lunch hour) for the first time with Super 8 camera and B/W movie film. Yea! Why filming in Charleston for a Huntington case? Well, the residence where the murder occurred in 1936 no longer exists. Soooo....I'm seeking out multiple homes/buildings with sections that closely resemble the exterior of the "murder house". Lots of tight shots of brick facades and white-trimmed windows. Low angle shots to hide signs and multiple wires. Branches and shrubs just visible enough to show movement in breeze. Tricks of the documentary trade. Also, use of film forces me to limit shots to 10 seconds and frame VERY carefully. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

FEEDBACK: OK folks, vote time. I've been asked several times to profile the 1936 murder of Juliette Enslow...primarily due to her connection the Staunton-Clark murder in 1953. For a while I have resisted this owing to the age of the case and the fact that a suspect was arrested and tried...but ultimately exonerated. Now, I feel more open to the idea inasmuch as it can present both a fascinating and technically unsolved case, but also the opportunity to touch on many historical topics along the way.

So...what do you all think? Should I cover this case next?
