WAHS MISSION: to experience, to embrace, to educate, to encourage, to empower.
The mission of WAHS is to encourage, educate, and empower every student to become a confident, self-directed, life long learner who values diversity and possesses the tools for academic, social, and personal achievement.
Operating as usual
CCSD Families- as we get ready for the start of the school year, make sure check out our Family Resources page on the district website. There is plenty of helpful information available, with more on the way this month and throughout the year.
https://www.ccsdschools.com/2024-2025-family-resources
For example, click on the "PowerSchool Parent Portal" for tips and resources on setting up and managing your accounts. One resource on the "PowerSchool Parent Portal" help page is a simple document showing you how to access your student's schedule (when it becomes available).
Wildcat Families— Our school website is experiencing some issues and is not updating as expected. Please rest assured that we are actively working with our website support services to resolve the situation and get everything back on track as quickly as possible.
We will be sharing our updates for the 2024-2025 school year with families over the weekend. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work through our website issues. If you have any urgent questions or need assistance, please feel free to email your student's administrator who will respond early next week.
Wildcat Families—We hope everyone stayed safe and dry these past few days. Our building and offices will reopen to families tomorrow morning for assistance. In the meantime, please your student's administrator (provided below) for assistance.

Serving as the principal of West Ashley High School has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I am profoundly grateful for the support from the entire WA community and look forward to continuing to support WAHS in my new role.
Thank you all for your support, collaboration, and trust.
Congratulations are in order for Mr. Cumback on his promotion to Executive Director of the High School Learning Community. Like Mrs. Huggins told West Ashley staff this afternoon, “Good leaders put systems and structures in place so the positive work can continue whether the leader is present or not.” Mr. Cumback, without a doubt, has done just that for the Wildcat Family. Once a wildcat, always a wildcat. For more information, see this CCSD press release: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fIciDVrxnuJKjhTneGXI1k5pp2AUI7d7/view?usp=drivesdk
West Ashley High School was recognized as the Boeing MUSC Wellness Checklist Top Scoring High School. A huge thank you to Ms. Mintz and our SEL Committee for making this happen!
Last week we held our annual Powder Puff game! Thank you to all that came out and played, cheered, and supported! Congratulations to our Junior class for taking home the win!
One of West Ashley’s Best! Congrats, Ms. Bondy.
Congratulations to this week's, "Unsung Educator of the Week", Tegan Bondy, Honors English Teacher at West Ashley High School.
"Ms. Bondy is constantly going above and beyond for her students. She cares for them to succeed in both their academic careers and their personal lives. She is the kind of teacher who will FaceTime her kids when she is out for the day to help them with their research papers and answer questions about annotated bibliographies. She holds her students to high standards and does everything she can to ensure they meet them.
In addition to being an outstanding English educator, Ms. Bondy is also the leader of the Speech and Debate team at our school.
You can always count on seeing her at sporting events and band and choir concerts supporting all of her students. She is always willing to pick up the slack and volunteer for whatever the school needs.
She is simply outstanding and doesn’t get the recognition she deserves!" -- nominated by a colleague
The Société Honoraire de Français (French Honor Society) visited residents at Ashley Gardens Memory Care on April 29th. Students helped the residents paint France themed rocks which was an amazing opportunity for our students and residents!!
