Save the date: The next College of Charleston Math Meet will be held Saturday February 6, 2027. This is a little earlier than last year because we're scheduling around some other events on campus. Hope you can bring a team!

One of this year's Fields Medal recipients is John Pardon. He has a Math Meet connection: He came to the Math Meet in 2006 and won second place on the level 3 written test. Yay! The Fields Medal is a prestigious international award given to mathematicians for especially significant contributions to our knowledge of math. John's award-winning research is in symplectic geometry, a subject that grew out of the Hamiltonian formulation of classical Newtonian physics.

John Pardon sees connections between different areas of math that others don’t. For that vision, he’s now been awarded a Fields Medal.

The Marathon is now posted!

The Marathon is the first event of the College of Charleston Math Meet. Students have until February 13 to solve a set of challenging math problems. Take a week or two to think about these! The Marathon is open to all students attending the Math Meet.

Instructions and problems for this year's Math Marathon are now posted to the Math Meet web site! All students who are registered with a team are eligible to submit answers. The deadline is February 7, 2025.
