Lowcountry AHEC is pleased to highlight and celebrate the exceptional achievements of the 2024 Lowcountry AHEC Summer Interns. This program, designed to foster the next generation of healthcare professionals, exemplifies the impact of pathway development initiatives in shaping the careers of South Carolina’s future healthcare workforce. Four of our distinguished interns are graduates of the Orangeburg High School for Health Professions (HSHP), a testament to the school's dedication to preparing students for successful futures in healthcare. The LCAHEC Program Coordinators for the program are Ms. Jalacy Green and Ms. LaRonda Johnson.

New in this year’s data book: percent of state total and per 10,000 population metrics for each profession within each county and region’s data. 📍 These useful data points help contextualize the proportion of health professionals for a given area and how it aligns with the population there.

Through the variety of workshops offered this year, student attendees will have the opportunity to connect and interact with faculty, staff and residents in small groups, while participating in instructional, hands-on activities.
